loricaney, Do some research first. Go here: http://www.lesliewong.us/blog/2005/05/02/hp-pavilion-f1703-flat-panel-display-blackout-solution/ I just read a comment that some guy wrote. He stated that he aquired 30 Vs17 non-working units from a high school, and that 25 of them had bad (swollen or leaky) filter capacitors. The other 5 had cracked lcd panels. maybe $6 in new capacitors will restore unit for you. Do some reading in my fixya profile and "budmrtn" and "buddymc" fixya profiles. let me know if you want to do a DIY repair after you do research and visit YOUTUBE for video clips of owners doing typical capacitor removal and installation. 12fixlouie
1. replace drum unit
2. after replacing reset the counter - press "3" and "9" button at the same time in the ready state, the reset menu will appear on the LCD, select "DRUM" and press "ok"
resetting without actual drum replacement might damage your printer.
yetimonsta, Are you sure that the monitor is BLANK?? Or is it just BLACK? Or is it both BLANK and BLACK? Connect a known good monitor to your pc to prove that your pc is working correctly. What does your L90D+ do when connected to good pc. Have you done the flashlight test to evaluate the state of the "switch-mode-power-supply" when lcd panel goes black /blank?? View more of my profile on fixya and you will discover all the options you have open to you. 12fixlouie
rking3905, Please tell me if F1703 is BOTH BLACK and BLANK, or if it is just BLACK! If the screen is BLACK and you can see the WIN-desktop with aid of flashlight held 1" from the screen then the monitor's "switch-mode-power-supply" is in partial shutdown mode having detected a FAULT condition with the "cold-cathode-fluorescent-lamp" power supply called an INVERTER circuit (12vdc to 600-1200vac) to light-up the lamps hung on the rear of the LCD panel which produce WHITE light so you can see the image or text displayed on the LCD glass panel. In any case, you or a technician will need to evaluate the true state of your monitor. Also try to view some video clips on YOUTUBE that deal with "LCD monitor disassembly" and "LCD monitor repair". The longer (8-12min) clips are best. FYI goto www.ccl-la.com/badcaps, www.lcdparts.com, www.badcaps.net for more information on what may be the cause of your BLACK and or BLANK screen! If this was of some help, please rate this response on fixya.

Hi , The monitor flicker problem. The monitor when turn on will display image for couple of second then turn black. The monitor status led is still green. This will happen each time it is turn on. The symptom at appear to come from the inverter board.
