Move the shift lever while pedaling! Seriously, can't you just ask someone in person for help? See if there's a bike co-op or public workshop in your community.

Need an owners manual for a 26” Women’s Nishiki Pueblo Mountain Bike

That bike was made from 1993-1998. It's a standard Cro-Moly (i.e. Steel) non-suspension mtn bike. In other words, there is nothing unique about it that would require an owner's manual. I might suggest you post the actual issue with the bike to get some feedback as to how to deal with it.

How do the gears work

The derailleur mechanism, as its name implies, 'derails' the chain from one rear sprocket to the next, either larger (for a lower gear) or smaller (for a higher gear). It is spelt that way as it is a French invention.

I took the chain off to repair and now I can not figure on to put back on. Around the two small gears. please help

Hi Jeremiah:
Try this:
- Hang the chain over the axle sprocket
- Pull the two small gears towards the front of the bike
- put the chain to the front of the highest gear, and
- around the rear of the lower gear
- then it goes to the pedal end.
Hope this helps.

My bike's suddenly not moving my bike's suddenly not moving backward..... its a Schwinn Suburban Sport 26" for women... bought it an hour ..

It's not supposed to move backward. Walk it forward and rotate the pedal FORWARD to get the chain and all aligned onto a gear. Then evaluate what is wrong.

I have a diamondback serene women's bike, can't shift into 3rd gear. grip turns extremely hard and then if I get the shifter to 3rd, the gears on the bike just click. have to ride it really hard and...

Many possibilities, including derailleur outer limit not correctly adjusted, derailleur not mounted correctly, tight bend or friction in cable. Talk to the store manager/owner about correcting your complaints or find another shop or a bike co-op. If the bike is a major brand from a bike shop (Trek, Giant, Cannondale, etc.) try going to their website, look for Customer Service/Support and enter a complaint.

Chain slipping after changing tire

You may have knocked the gear derailleur when fixing and re-fitting the rear wheel. This can knock the derailleur out of whack slightly and will need proper adjusting by your local bike shop.

It keeps shifting gears

If you bought it at a real bicycle shop, take it back and have them tweak the derailleur cable tensions. That's usually an expected free service they would provide after a reasonable break-in period.

Or take it to a real Bike shop and pay a few bucks for them to do it.

Or take a stab at it yourself using the expert advice at Park Tools...
