Try opening the Network Control Panel on the MacBook. Select the TCP/IP tab, then click Advanced. Note the list of IP address numbers. Click the "Renew DHCP Lease" button and see what changed. Most likely all of them did, in particular the "Internet Gateway" and "DNS server" addresses. The first is the connection between the D-Link router and your ISP, and the other addresses are for servers that translate your web browser URLs into the IP addresses for the web sites you want to see. The Gateway and DNS server addresses have to match those in the upstream router(s). The routers must have current IP addresses assigned by the routers upstream, and any client computer must have a current address assigned by the first route upstream. You can check into this by logging in to the webpages for your routers and examining the status reports.

Apparently one of the devices in the chain fails to obtain a new IP address when the D-Link router is powered on. I suspect it is the Belkin router. A computer with an expired DHCP lease will probably be using the Internet gateway IP address assigned to the D-Link router when it was on before (in a busy neighborhood, that address would have been re-assigned to some other household). The Windows system may be sending a request for DHCP renewal up the line, which triggers the Belkin router to ask for the same from the D-Link unit, but it may be ignoring the signal from the MacBook or not getting one.

If the MacBook successfully gets online with a manual Renew DHCP Lease request, obtain the owner's manual for your Belkin router (find the model number, then go to the Belkin support/downloads page for that model). See what settings are available to automate the DHCP renewal process.

SOURCE: macbook pro only laptop in house that drops wireless connection

This sounds like an Intermittent Wireless connection problem. This is caused by cordless phones with 2.4GHz frequency. What you can do is change the Wireless Channel of your router to a different frequency/channel like channel 11, 1 or 9. Also you can try to relocate the base of your cordless phone away from the router or to a different room. In addition, you can try positioning the router to higher places like on top of cabinet or mount it on the wall..

SOURCE: MacBook not connecting to DIR-655 Router

My solution was that I changed the wireless mode from "B,G and N" to just "B and G," and then it worked fine.

Hello, I am currnetly using a Belkin ADSL2+ modem with wireless G Router and have just been given a D-Link Dir-855 Xtreme N Duo router I wish to use and have been told I can buy a ADSL Modem only to...

I think there is no need to replace the ADSL2+ Router.
Belkin is fine and should work well in combination with the D-Link Router and you would get the downlink data rate up to 300Mbps.
I recommended that you use Belkin Router as ADSL Modem and Dlink to provide wireless access. (Instead of buying ADSL Modem)
So, all you have to do is : -
-Turn-off wireless signal of the Belkin modem.
-Connect the Dlink Router to the Modem (Belkin) through CAT6 Cable.
-Configure the Dlink Router, Secure it and Enjoy 300Mbps Data Rate.

(In this way your Belkin will serve as ADSL Modem and Dlink would be the wireless router)

Let me know if any further clarification/ assistance is required.
Hope it helps! Good Luck!

carry out the resetting of the dlink router
then use lan cable to gain access to dlink router,
set up the internet conenction (i.e. your internet provider modem plugged into the dlink router also)

if it has a built in wizard then just follow the on screen instructions

you will need to define SSID (wireless network name) and passkey (password for the wireless connection)

and the your done. disconnect the laptop from wired connection and connect via wireless

How to connect the wifi phone to the dlink router

Use an Ethernet cable to connect the network port on a computer (desktop/laptop/notebook) to one of the LAN ports on the router.
Start your computer's web-browser, and connect to the web-server "inside" the router.
Run the "Wireless Network Setup Wizard" to configure your wireless network, i.e., pick an SSID and a password.
Then, configure your telephone to connect to that SSID, and to use the password that you selected.

Who is your Internet service provider.
You said that you are able to go online when connected the modem to the computer. So that is a good sign.
you will need to check the settings of the router.

I have a macbook pro and I am having problem connecting wirelessly to a Belkin Wireless Router N. None of my roommates have problem connecting and I can connect wirelessly everywhere else on campus but not...

Most hotspots are using b/g protocol for the widest compatibility with other hardware. Your macbook pro may not be able to connect tot he Belkin router if it's only broadcasting the N protocol. First verify which protocol the Belkin router is using. If it's broadcasting N, try changing it to use b/g and see if you can connect. I seem to recall that the earlier macbooks needed an update to be N compatible.

Belkin wireless 'N' with Vonage router and cable ISP modem...

Hi, since your Internet source is the ISP modem, you have to connect the cable from it to the yellow connector of Belkin router, then you can connect the VoIP router and computer to any of the ports (connectors) labeled 1-4 , remember to restart clients (PC & VoIP router) to get the new IP from Belkin router.

Using just the VOIP part of a Belkin all in one router??

You will probably need to set it up differently, I do not know the belking router, but normally the VOIP functions only work on the wan port of these routers so you should make the connections as follows:

INET ---> (wan) DLINK (lan) -----> (wan) BELKIN (voip) --> Phone
|--------> Wired Computers
|--- ) ) ) Wi Fi computers

On the DLINK enable DHCP and set a fixed IP for the Belkin router, either by setting the belkin in an IP outside the DHCP pool or setting it from the DHCP server.

This configuration workd well with a DLINK and a Motorola (vonage) router I have.
