If no PS3 games work. Try using a cleaning disk. A CD with brushes on it, electronics dept at walmart. If that does not work you should call Sony. The ps2 had problems with being able to read cds and psx games but not dvds and ps2 games.
some 80 gb ps3's are backwards compatible, some are not.
unfortunately it looks like you have one that isn't. my suggestion is to look on the back of the unit, underneath the barcode. the serial number will be there, followed by the model number. if you're model is not CECHE01 it is not backwards compatible.
if u are trying to play old ps2 games the sumtimes have trouble reading them wot u could try is cleaning the games and the lazer inside the ps2 with a cleaning disk the should sort it out
