Testimonial: "Thank you so much. I was able to find all the information I needed including a picture of the unit. I hope to be able to use the detector this weekend as I search for items around my 1890 home and property. I will not hesitate to use FixYa for help in the future. Thank you again."

SOURCE: my micronta 4003 metal detector has only three

From the picture, it looks like it takes (3) 9-volt batteries, NEDA 1604 type.
Good luck hunting!

Does anyone have a manual for the Radio Shack / Tandy / Micronta 63-3002 metal detector?

I was out at event with my Nokta Legend at the weekend!

My first detector was a Radio shack in 1988. I think it had three dials, one for Volume, one for Sensitivity, and finally one for Discrimination, Ferrous one way, Non Ferrous the other and All Metal around the 12 o'clock mark. And the Red Button in the handle tip.

There isn't a manual available, but this post explains what the red button does and sounds the equivalent of Ground Balance / EMI Cancellation to zero the meter.

IS THER A VIDEO THAT SHOWS ME HOW TO DO THE SETTINGS ON A MICRONTA 4003 VLF

It is one of the simplest ones to use. My niece used one for a while. I could not find a video but here are the instructions;
Instructions
    • 1Turn the metal detector on with the "Volume" knob. This also adjusts the level of sound.
    • 2 Check the batteries. Turn the "Test" knob to the Battery 1 or Battery 2 position and confirm that the needle points to the green area. Then turn the knob to "Nor" for normal operations
    • 3 Hit the red "Auto Tune" button on the carrying handle with the head portion of the detector away from any metal objects, and turn the "Tune" knob until the needle hits 0.
    • 4 Turn the "Sens" knob to the middle position.
    • 5 Turn the "Mode" knob to VLF (very low frequency), and turn the "GND" knob to account for the type of ground (such as dirt or sand) you are using the metal detector for.
    • 6 Turn the "Mode" knob to either the TR1 or TR2 position. To set the detector to find metals such as gold or silver, set the "Discrim" knob to Non-ferrous Metals. You can also set it to find Ferrous Metals if you want to search for iron or steel.
    • 7 Hold the detector with the search coil parallel to the ground. You can adjust the angle of the search coil by loosening the wing nut on the end of the shaft and swinging it to the desired position.
    • 8 Swing the detector in wide sweeps about 2 inches from the ground.
