Many times the washing arms of the bosch and few other models will clog up with old soap or debris.

Try removing arms and clean out any debris by blowing air through unit and if need be a toothpick or dental tool to remove any solid debris that is stuck. Reattach arms and run through cycle. Hopefully this works otherwise it could very well be the pump.

I have an LG model LDS4821 dishwasher that quit washing clean. Top rack is the dirtiest. Water is hot and bottom drain is clean.

The most likely cause is a blocked or clogged wash arm. Many times when the wash stops the debris blocking the spray will back away. The holes in the arm are aimed to cause the arm to rotate. The clogged hole is usually an outer diameter hole which provides the force for the arm to rotate.

Some upper end washers have a blocked arm sense to alert when arm is blocked.

Careful not to deform the geometry of the hole when removing the debris. Tweezers work the best.

Why are my top rack dishes not clean at all?

It is likely that sufficient water is not coming from the top arm. These dishwashers oscillate the water flow between top and bottoms sprays alternatively. This ensures water is pumped with adequate force. It is possible this mechanism is not working correctly. The device called check ball item 58 in this diagram actually does this function. The ball might be out of shape or not sitting properly causing incorrect wash water movement.

Water fills the bottom of dishwasher, lower spray arm still seems to turn/spray but no movement or water coming out of uppoer spray arm. We took apart the lines to see if there was blockage -- none.

If there is no blockage, your pump may need to be rebuilt or replaced. If your machine uses a solenoid valve to control weather the pump is washing or draining. The drain valve may be stuck somewhat open, diverting wash water down the drain. Or the wash valve may be not opening fully. Different machines work in different ways.

Dishwasher will fill and empty but no water coming through the spinners

It would help if you provide the model number.
Usually the problem is with the wash distributor circuit. The water alternates between bottom and top spinners (wash arms). The distributor may be faulty assuming the arms are clean and you have checked this. Some models use the same pump for wash and drain using impeller. In that case the problem could be the impeller is clogged and not allowing water to get in the arms. See this diagram.

Model number will help identify the part.

Dishwasher soap still in door after wash cycle, so dishes are not very clean. Soap dispenser cover is sprung open but soap (on both sides, wash and prewash) is still mostly where it was poured, only now...

Check for the right amount of water in tub. In this unit close to the lip of the tub after fill. If water fill is correct check movement of lower spray arm. Other possibilities delayed action of dispenser from defective wax motor. Most probable is wash motor. Start unit after fill and when was starts, open door and see if water is being pushed to the top rack and dripping from the top of tub. Motor is easy to install.

Soap is not disolving. Falls out of holder and stays on door and floor of washer.

Are dishes also not coming clean? Most likely, there is not enough water chruning in the tub to rinse soap out of cup during wash cycle. Sufficient wash action will wash the soap out of the cup and dissolve it in the water within a few seconds of the cup opening.

Most likely causes are:

Not enough water entering dishwasher (check level after fill... Should be slightly below bottom wash arm)

Water filling but draining during wash cycle. Check toward end of wash cycle but before drain. See if water level is diminished from start of wash cycle.

New 'water saver' dishwashers are notorious for having smaller water jets, and thus easier to stop-up jets. Check the jets on all wash arms to be sure they are cleared of food particles.

Another way to check the wash arms is to manually position them at specific locations, momentarily run the dishwasher for a few seconds, then open the door to inspect the location of the wash arms. Do this three or four times to eliminate the possibility of coincidence.

If the wash arms do not move from the location that you put them, the most likely cause is food particles stopping up the water jets. These jets not only clean the dishes but also the water pressure they generate turn the arms inside the dishwasher to properly distribute water pressure on the dishes.

Sometimes you can dislodge and remove food particles stuck in one of the jets with a toothpick or other small probe. Others require that you remove the arm(s) and get a little more creative. I use compressed air to clear mine, but not everyone has access to compressed air, so use whatever you can to remove the food particles.

Simply dislodging them from the water ports is usually not effective... As soon as water pressure is applied, the particles return to the jets and stop them up again. The real fix in this instance is to completely remove the food particles from the arm if you can.

Hope this help. Good luck.

Top Arm does not spin so glasses are not cleaned and detergent is not rinsed out of holder very well.

Make sure the water level is just at or below the heating element. Low water level will cause the pump to "run out of water" before all wash arms and connecting tubing are filled. A pulsing sound during the wash cycle will verify. Low water pressure or a bad water inlet valve are one cause. Water siphoning ou the drain line is another. Look under your sink and verify the drain line goes from the garbage disposal or sink tailpiece all the way up to the bottom side of the coutertop enroute to the dishwasher.

Oh No

ANTI-FLOODING CONTROL SYSTEM ALARM [A L 4] Leds [LD9] + [LD10] This control system is operative during the washing phases only, and not in the water fill phases, in which case is it connected to the safety device (see paragraph 7.4.1 ?Water Fill Time-out?). A float-actioned mechanical sensor positioned on the bottom of the appliance trips a microswitch which is connected in series to the fill solenoid, thus disconnecting the solenoid. Intervention of the sensor is detected by the electronic control board, which actions the drain pump for 1 minute, after which an alarm condition is generated. Possible causes: a. Water leakage from the tub/sump seal b. Water leakage from the various couplings (motor, OR on the duct to the upper spray arm, etc.) c. Floating sensor jammed mechanically/microswitch faulty
