My HP DV3 screen is black with caps lock and scroll lights flashing, what do I do?

Those are POST error blink codes
covered in the manual (service)
at HP.com
DV3 is not a complete model , it is just a series.
example real
Dv3-1075us 2008 ,,made. 14 years old ,
common fails are coin cell dead, now 2x normal life span.
HDD bad., now cant boot.
remove huge battery and run on AC power pack, does that work.
oops big battery bad too.
CCLF lamps make backlights dead. most are now. dead screen.
windows VISTA loaded.

HP ended support, sad no? and here is a guy that saved the secret codes (caps lock POST error blink codes)

How can I increase my laptop battery life?

To increase the battery operating timeline you can do a number of things. These usually include dimming the screen, adjusting the power setting to turn the screen off after 10 minutes and stop the hard drive from spinning when idle after a period of time too.

Results will vary from laptop to laptop and depends if the quoted 6 hours 30 minutes time frame is an actual recorded time of usage off ac or based on windows assumption and estimation.

Windows power management can only tell you the time in which battery power is maintainable for based on the consumption rate at the time. With this being said start up and playing games will utilise more power that say word processing after the initial startup has cooled down.

Some laptops can be operated without the battery however there are an increasing number of laptops these days being manufactured without this option. You can attempt to operate it without the battery and doing so will not damage the laptop in any way. If anything it will maintain the life expectancy of the battery.

My laptop doesn't turn on

Usually indicates a problem with the motherboard.

Try removing the battery, reseatting the memory.

If that doesnt' work remove the dvd-rom and also the hard drive.

We're just trying to get a display at this point ;)

Let me know what happens.

Sony F55 Recorded Display

The filename (e.g. DSC0012.jpg) shows the image number, the filespec shows the date and time recorded. Most software will give you document info about resolution of the image. I wouldn't worry about what the battery status was when the shot was taken or how many other images were on the Mstick. I guess I'm not sure what you need.
