If the sound source is on a different circuit or plug it produces some kind of a loop (dont know the technical name) Go to radio shack and get a ground loop disrupter that goes on the audio cables right before the speaker and it eliminates that hum.

SOURCE: Subwoofer Line In/Out Mix-up

I had a problem with no audio and I recently found the fix. When the sub still worked and you turn it on you hear one relay click and then about 5 seconds later a second relay clicks and the audio comes on. The problem I had lies with that second relay. When you take the case apart there are 4 circuit boards. The big board with the two big blue capacitors is the main board. Well next to the two blue capacitors is a blue relay. That relay had a pin that came un-soldered from the circuit board. I re-soldered that pin and the sub works just like new. If you go here http://www.eserviceinfo.com/downloadsm/20627/sony_sawm500.html you can find a free service manual that has the wiring schematics for the amp. Hope this helps!

I have a Yamaha subwoofer yst- sw005. How do I connect this to my mobile or tv. Does it work without an amp or receiver?

It's an amplified subwoofer. You have two inputs. Right and Left. If you plug in speakers into the output jacks, you can get a 1/8 inch to RCA and plug in a mobile device and the subwoofer's amp will power the speakers and sub.

To hook it up to a TV, the TV has to have audio outputs (White and red, usually paired with a yellow RCA jack. labeled Audio/Video out)

Coby DVD765 Theater System and can't control the TV volume through it...I saw the previous post...We have it in our bedroom and rarely watch DVDs in there. Could I plug my RCA audio cables into some of...

The connections will have to go directly into your tv set. On your tv, you should have 3 connnecting points. Red, White and Yellow. On your Theatre system amplifier you should have audio outputs like CD, AUX, etc. Pick one of these outputs and connect to your Red and White RCA on the tv set. Next, connect the DVD player's audio to dvd on your amplifier under the DVD connection. Your VIDEO (yellow) Cable should still go to your tv directly from the DVD player. Now, if you want to listen to the TV channels throug the system, simply select the channel that you pluged the TV audio into. Hope this helps.

How do I connect to my tv which has red and white socket and red yellow and white sockets

Usually your subwoofer, which I assume is what your trying to connect, has one connection. To make this connection you need to have a receiver to connect it to . A powered sub usually cannot connect straight to the television itself.

This is just a quick search:
http://www.amazon.com/Stereo-Receivers-Amplifiers-Audio-Video/b?ie=UTF8&node=172561

This is what you would need to connect your subwoofer to. You can also route all your viewing accessories through this electronic.

How to hook up wii to surround sound

You need to connect your amplifier to your TV, (Video Out of Amp to video In of TV), then select the input where you connected your WII in amp.
Or you could just connect the yellow plug to the TV directly, and the white and red plug to your amplifier.
A note thou, Red and White will not give "True" surround sound as it has only 2 channels, you need to connect a digital input to the amp to get true surround.

Let me know what happens

Audio Out Fixed/Variable

Is your subwoofer amplified or passive?

You clearly understand that you need to use a variable line out to control the subwoofer volume via the TV. As the setup seems reasonable, I'm wondering if the subwoofer is getting a signal, but that it is at line-level and not internally amplified by the subwoofer speaker. Generally, if the subwoofer must be plugged into an AC socket in the wall, it has an internal amplifier and can be fed line-level audio. If it is "passive", it has no amplifier, and it must receive an amplified signal (over speaker wire) from an amplifier (or integrated receiver). TV's don't generally have connections to send out an amplified signal.

If the subwoofer is indeed amplified, then this is obviously not the problem, but it's the first thing to verify given the information provided.

Celestion S8 Subwoofer

I would check the electroltyc caps in the power supply They general are in the first part of the power supply and there will be two of them . What they do is filter out transformer hum and help stabalize the circuit. I am not saying this is absolutely the problem but the capcitors are relatively inexpensive, Easy to change. And have a habit of going bad after a couple of years in use.
