I have water leaking out from underneath the refrigerator. I have turned off the water supply to the ice maker / water dispenser. The leak is still present. Do you know where to locate the defrost drain pan? It is a Kitchenaid Superba Side-by-side.
I have the same problem and the drain/drip pan is a plastic pan under the freezer side. It just slides out from the front. the water is leaking out under the kenmore side by side, all connections seem ok but the drain pan is full and over flowing. can't seem to remove it easily, where is this water supposed to go. I just spent over an hour sticking a sponge into the drain pan and soaking up water, then squeezing it out into a bucket, repeat until hot and irritable, to drain the absolutely full drain pan that was overflowing. I see no easy way to remove this drain pan, and my wrist is raw from pushing across wires into a small opening. I don't know yet whether this water was accumulated over years, or if something has gone terribly wrong - this was uncovered when a dog treat rolled under the fridge, and I sloshed water around moving it to find it. I guess I need to check periodically - say, tomorrow - to see if the pan is filling up again.
This Kitchenaid side-by-side fridge has ALWAYS had the sound of trickling water periodically, but I've never seen the drain pan full before. It's 7 years old - not actually a Superba Architect, it's a KSRG25 Superba unit, but this is the closest match Google provided that I've found.
Any suggestions? I have an even older fridge, that ISN'T EnergyStar, that I've been thinking of replacing, but I sure don't want to replace the NON-LEAKING fridge while keeping the LEAKING one...

There is a drip pan located underneath you ref but most likely your prob is a plugged drain line coming from the freezer. when you ref goes into automatic def the water doesnt run out into the drip pan but instead onto your floor..
you can clean the drain line by removing the rear cover in the freezer compartment and using hot water to thaw the drain below the evap coil.

there is nothing missing, the one to the drain pan is coming from the freezer, The one going to the door, is going to the water dispenser. If you pull the fridge out and go behind, you will also see one going up to the ice maker. At the bottom of the fridge in the back, remove the cardboard panel. Once removed you will see the water inlet valve with two lines leading from it. (The one going to the door and the one going to the ice maker. At the front of the water inlet valve is where the main connection gets hooked up to supply the water. Remember to use teflon tape or it will leak. Hope this helps
Hi this problem could arise due to various reasons so lets find out what could it be the cause.
1)In the back of your freezer compartment is the drain hole. It's very common in GE for the drain to freeze up. With the drain hole plugged up, your freezer will continue to defrost the evaporator, but not the water in the drain hole. So the water builds and freezes, builds and freezes until it eventually overflows into the air diffuser for the fridge causing the leaky fridge problem."Heat Probe" that can be installed.This will prevent water from freezing up in the drain hole allowing it to drain as designed
2)Inspect the door seals and the sides of the refrigerator around the doors. If you see any beads of water or moisture, then the door seals may be failing to create an air tight seal which causes the cold air from the refrigerator to escape and form condensation around the doors. Sometimes you can solve this problem by applying a light film of gasket lubricant to the existing seals or just cleaning them of any debris with a warm soapy rag. If they still don't seal well after you apply lubricant, or clean them, you may need to replace the entire seal assembly.
3) If the water is coming from the freezer but you think that the defrost drain pipe is clear, then it may be coming from the ice maker. Check the ice maker for cracks in the unit's body or a misalignment of the water supply line. Make sure that the water supply spout in the freezer lines up with the ice maker's water supply cup.
4)Check the ice maker copper water supply line, your ice maker water filter, and the plastic ice maker water supply tube for any cracks, splits or connection leaks. If you find any leaks, remove the leaking part and obtain a replacement at the hardware store.
5)Your leaking refrigerator may just have a cracked or damaged drain pan. Your fridge regularly drains water into this pan to prevent water pooling in the fridge itself. Evaporation takes care of the rest. Look underneath your fridge where the drain pan sits and pull it out for inspection. If it has a crack or is otherwise damaged, contact the appropriate retailer about getting a replacement as soon as possible.
6)If your leaking refrigerator is draining inside as opposed to onto your floor, you're probably dealing with a clogged defrost drain. Your fridge is constantly producing condensation inside the freezer, and that condensation drips down the defrost drain into a drain pan underneath the unit. This defrost drain can become clogged with debris or, more often, it freezes shut. Look in your refrigerator manual to locate your defrost drain, and take the appropriate steps to unclog it (inundating your drain with warm water will often do the trick).
Note:Switch you Refrigerators for more than 8 hours and let the frost melt fully use hair dryer and now switch on and check you are getting leak.
Generally, this problem can be solved by replacing the water filter. The water filters have o-rings that self seal when installed. If you keep the same water filter to long those seals will start to leak. Fortunately for us, the water filter housing is right over the drip pan, and when it leaks it conveniently goes there.
To make sure take off the toe panel to the frig. If you have problems taking the toe panel off don't worry, they need to be yanked. Start on on side and really give it a tug. Once you get that off you will see how it clips in and you can remove the other side with ease.
Now, if it is not leaking currently, have someone get water from the dispenser while you are on the ground watching. You will be looking at the filter mind you, underneath the frig. You should be able to see it dripping right into the pan.
Now of course you could have another leak, but that is most likely what has happened. Passed that, you will have to see the leak to know what is leaking. You can get water from the dispenser, but if that doesn't work you will need to wait for the ice maker to make some ice. Then you can see if that is the problem.
To simply cut off the water supply to the ice maker you would just need to turn the ice maker to the off position. Then it would no longer ask for water :)
OK I will help but I think if you could find the model number and on some they always seem to be worn off or hard to see, I'm trying to picture in my mind if you have a water and ice dispenser in a side by side or jut a freezer over the fresh food compartment. If you have no water and ice then something like a leak has happened to de condensate collector pan or the drain tube has missed the pan. Without water from another source something is wrong with the pan or the pipe leading to the pan. If you have water and Ice Maker it;s possible you have sprung a leak in the water lines leading to the dispenser near the floor and behind the kick plate. The water lines on those models enter the bottom hinge of the door.Best way to see what is happening with the condensate pan is unplug and pull refrigerator away from wall and remove cover over compressor and condenser area to examine the pan closely. The water is defrosted frost from the cold coils. Look for ice at the bottom of the freezer at the back wall. Carefully remove back panel. Most often the problem is that the drain hole to the pan underneath the fridge is blocked. and then it gets further blocked with ice as defrosted water cannot drain away. Clear carefully with a hairdryer, Clean drain hole with hot water and a turkey baster. Shoot water through to the pan below. If ice comes back in a few weeks you need to troubleshoot defrost heater circuit. Most common bad parts in order are defrost thermostat, defrost timer, fuses in defrost circuit which don't reset.
Is this a self defrost refrig. if it is then it might be doing that, which then you might want to look for the drain that is suppose to drain into this pan. It might be missing the pan try that, let us know thanks.
