Galaxy DX959 CB radio reception and broadcast

Can tell someone's talking on the radio, because the needle moves, but all I hear is static. Occasionally, I hear someone really talking. Replaced the microphone twice and still can't talk to anyone. The kicker is, the radio worked fine in my last semi. HELP!!!

Agreed, it has to be antenna. If the new truck has shock-mounted mirrors there may be no bond to ground if that is where the antenna mounts. the coax needs to bond to metal at the mount or the SWR will be way out. SWR affects receive just as much as transmit.

You Need to check and set you SWR on the antenna system. You may also have a bad coax or the ant studs ( mounting hardward ) for the antennas may be bad. It definally sounds like an ant/coax problem Good Luck

Galaxy dx959 will not receive. Speaker is working. S meter is showing incoming signal.

the over power doides may be blown. you should start there .they should be marked D-1 and D-2. you may want to replace them with diodes of a higher rating.

How to Hook up My galaxy 250 watt Linear Amplifier to My galaxy dx959

you will need a jumper cable to go from the box to the radio then the antenna plugs into the box at the antenna connection point. Now for DC power you will need at least some 12 gauge wire with a fuse connected to the pos and the neg. Then you connect it to the fuse box and a ground . I personally would not use one ,if my radio cannot out do yours then so what.If you can't hear my radio within 12 miles of me then I will talk to you when you get closer. You want to hook one up thats your option but I don't even want one.

Have new dx959 doesnt get out very far talking 100yrds or so use rdking 56 mic mic works fine on old radio pc 78 and gets out fine also are 959 radios ok or junk has good reception

The DX959 has an output power setting knob. It's located next to the channel selector and is labeled RF Power. Turned counterclockwise will reduce output power. Turned clockwise will increase output power. Your switch is probably turned all the way counterclockwise resulting in low transmit volume.
Also, make sure the wiring for the RK59 is correct for the Galaxy. Even though it's a 4 pin plug, the pinouts may be different for the Uniden and Galaxy radios. Do a Google search for mic pinouts for your two radios to check.

Dx959 galaxy

do you have any knobs or switches that say 10k or just switches on the side. It should also be on AM if the other person is on AM (this is not a 10m radio anymhz it only has AM, it is a legal CB Radio) Generally you should just be able to put it on AM and talk if your on the same channel. if its been modded and has switches a 10k switch or (high low norm) these may no be in the right place. if the clarifier is unlocked that may also cause a problem, it needs to be on with the switches and knobs in the right place.

good luck! play with the switches, with someone else who has a radio.
