Closed Caption won't turn off

My philips 27" tv has the caption continually on. I want to turn it off. Is there a way to turn it off with the four buttons on the tv? Closed caption won't turn off Toshiba Regza LTD TV

I have a 40" Regza and have the same problem. The CC button is set to off. I am running cable thru a DVR digital cable box and the cable provider insists that the box does not control CC - yet if I hook the cable up directly to the TV, bypassing the box, the CC goes away.

Cannot turn off closed caption on 27" insignia. the option screen which illustrates the closed caption category, is not highlighted and you cannot manually choose that option from the remote control.

I can not turn the captions off on my magnovox television

It sounds as if you have the closed caption option activated on your TV. The easiest way to disable this is to search your remote for the closed caption button. It is most likely the button marked CC or Closed Caption. Good Luck

Closed Caption won't turn off

The following should solve your problem if you have a comcast digital cable box and possibly for others.
Hey, it's worth a shot!

Turn the TV Power on and cable box power off.
Press the MENU button on the front of the cable box.
Scroll down to the caption item on the menu and toggle it to "disabled"
Press the menu button again to close.

Hope this helps!

Close caption turns on and off by itself problem

Check the cable box to make sure the captions aren't truned on in the cable box.

If not -if it really is the Magnavox caption service- then -

This is assuming you have the original remote:
1 Press MENU to show the on-screen
menu.
2 Press VOL+ or VOL- until SET is highlighted.
3 Press CH+ or CH- repeatedly to
highlight CLOSED CAPTION.
4 Press VOL+ or VOL-
to display the
CLOSED CAPTION menu.
5 Press CH+ or CH- to select the
closed caption you want (OFF, CC-1,
CC-2, or CC-MUTE).
CC-MUTE sets
the TV to show closed captions when
you press MUTE. The TV volume will be
disabled until you press MUTE again to
restore the sound.
6 Press VOL+ or VOL-
to confirm your
selection.
7 Press TV/AV/EXIT to remove the
menu.
