Hi i have a TSSTcorp L632H laptop cd/dvd rw drive, you should no what i mean, it is supposed to be a dvd rw drive but i can't burn, my computer sees it but any burning software i use cant detect it, i have removed all filters, and i have tried uninstalling it and re-installing it, i have the recommended d400 firmware, can you please help me to make it burn or at least so softwares can dtect it, it is suppose to be able to burn and i dont know why it isnt! thanks help would be highly appreciated.
Change ur operating system and install a new windows , i preferred win7 and install a burner software like Niro or other application with activated version and it will work

it is relic junker PATA drive, not even SATA.
so is trash this old, over 13 years old .

2: buy with COA sticker, WIndows 7 or up.
3: load imgburn (free and best) and burn using a modern SATA DVD burner.(modern)

the PC must run Vista or w7 and newer to upgrade the drive BIOS. or it fails.
XP will not.

Step 2: Delete the UpperFilters registry entry

Expand SYSTEM, and then expand CurrentControlSet.

Expand Control, and then expand Class.
4.
Under Class, click {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}.

In the right pane (topic area), click UpperFilters.
Note An UpperFilters.bak registry entry may also appear. To delete the UpperFilters registry entry, you must click UpperFilters and not UpperFilters.bak.
6.
On the Edit menu, click Delete.
7.
When you receive the following message, click Yes to confirm the deletion of the UpperFilters registry entry:
Are you sure you want to delete this value?The UpperFilters registry entry is removed from the {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} registry subkey.
Note Do not exit Registry Editor. You must have this program for the next step.

It's Genius, unfortunately while It is attacking the source of the recording ability of the drive I am not that experinced with the registry, so when you say loadTOCNode(3, 'resolution'), I am lost. I need to know how to do that step by step.

This can be a problem with the lens of the media drive that you have, the first thing that you can do here is to run a lens cleaner on it, you can get it from any electronic store near you, but after running a lens cleaner and still the same problem a lens replacement is needed for this unit....
