One of two HP laptops connects to network but quit on Internet

Has worked fine for a year and last night, my 64bit laptop no longer connects to the internet. It says it is connecting to my home network but it also calls it an "unidentified" network (this is different from before and my other wireless conncetions). I have tried all the unplugg, reboots, diable, uninstall and reinstall wireless adapter, and update/roll-back drivers. What's next?

Did you play with your wireless router settings..?? When it is shown as unidentified, you have most probably set as hide network name . other computers may show up the name if you have saved the network settings on them at least once.

Drivers are fine as they are able to detect the network.

Hello
Wow youve done almost everything here. How about the firewall? is it blocking any connections?

Next,Go to control panel, network and sharing center.Look and see if the pc or laptop in question is on the same network, meaning home or public.

Set all your machines to the same network.Either home or public.I do know this has been a win 7 problem.

Check the IP address on the Vista wireless network connection. Make sure that there is not static IP address on the wireless connection. That could be one of the reason.

That laptop has a known issue with the wireless network card not being recoginzed by windows. You can verify this by going into the device manager and seeing if the wireless network card is in there, more then likely it won't be.

Best option is to call HP Tech support and ask them about that known issue and see if your laptop can be covered by there recall. You have so much time before the recall won't cover your laptop.

Here is there tech support number: 800-474-6836

They are open 24/7

I remember that HP computers or laptops have a 1 year warranty unless you get an extended one and recalls can last up to about a year after the warranty expires, call and see if they can get your laptop covered under the recall.

Cannot maintain wireless connection

Try manually add the network. If the problems continue, I would turn the laptop in for repair/replacement (if it under warranty).
