You must connect:
the mixer output to the "line|optical" input of the Transit
the mixer input to the line (in case of an analog signal) or to the optical (in case of a digital - optical signal)
The USB connector on the other side is going to be connected at the USB port of the pc.
Just keep in mind that the signal flow goes as the arrows on the Transit.

Yamaha 5440 optical input not working

  1. Ensure that the optical cable is properly connected to both the PC sound card and the receiver.
  2. Check that the PC sound card is outputting sound through the optical cable. You can do this by going into the sound settings on your computer and selecting the optical output as the default audio device.
  3. Try using a different optical cable to rule out a faulty cable as the issue.
  4. Check the receiver's settings to make sure that the correct input is selected for the optical input.
  5. If none of the above steps work, it's possible that the optical input on the receiver has malfunctioned and may require repairs or replacement.
If you're still having trouble with the optical input, it may be best to consult the user manual or contact Yamaha customer support for further assistance.

Just purchased the mg102c, must I utilize a balanced cable to hook up my JBL powered speakers.

Yes... to get best noise performance use balanced TRS or XLR. ALSO power the speakers and this mixer from the SAME receptacle to avoid ground bounce and possible damage to the units.

My Yamaha MG102C has no sound, and all of the LED's are on. There's no inputs connected at all.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you have nothing connected as an input, you're NOT going to hear anything. I assume you can't get your inputs to get to main output fader(s), if that being the case, first make sure your gain knobs are up at about 12 o'clock position, your channel faders are up to 0 and then make sure "channel assignment buttons" are assigned to stereo outputs.

Wound the yamaha MG102c be good for a small duo or solo

Use either an amp OR powered speakers. Make sure you use balanced lines to the external amp or powered speakers and power those from the SAME receptacle source as this mixer and any pwered devices connected to it for safety of the system.

The mixer is strictly a mixer. You would need to amplify to drive speakers. Used as a mixer it is fineand would support up to 4 mics.

It does have phantom power for use with condenser mics if needed.

Please use balanced lines (TRS) when connecting to the external amp.

How do i connect yamaha mixer to pc or yamaha receiver

I am sorry to disagree, but some information in the previous post is INCORRECT. DO NOT connect the output of the mixer to the MIC input. The mixer generates LINE level output that should go to the LINE-IN on the sound card. If you connect the mixer to the mic input, you will damage the sound card. MIC level inputs have an additional amplification stage.

What cables for yamaha keyboard psr295 to connect with tascam 144

There are different options depending on what you want to achieve. If you want to send only MIDI data to your PC (for example, to run a VST instrument), then you can use a standard MIDI cable to connect the "out" on your keyboard to the "in" on your Tascam. You should also be able to use the Yamaha USB cable to connect directly to your computer, which would then bypass the Tascam (still giving you the same outcome, but without the need to buy any extra cables.
However, if you want to send the audio data (i.e. the actual sound) of the keyboard to your PC, you would simply use a standard guitar lead from the line out of the keyboard into the line in (both, if your keyboard has stereo outs) of your Tascam. This will eliminate any need for VST instruments, as you will be recording the audio signal directly.
