I cannot get a position on my Simrad CE33 chartplotter/sounder

I cannot get a position on my Simrad CE33 chartplotter even though my C-Map card is fine (I tested it) and I can pick up 5 satellites on my GPS (my antenna is fine). When I turn on the system, it tries to determine a position, seems unable to, and then system reboots and tries again. It will keep doing this until I shut it down.

Thanks for your reply.

I've actually tried to do both, but neither worked. It is still unable to determine position and keeps rebooting.

Someone told me I may need a software update?

Any other ideas?

You will have to update the maps. There are downloads on company sites and others as well.

Ensure that the external position to be OFF, refer to manual below. See interface display in [MENU],7,2

Try resetting the Chart Plotter to factory settings. Use the Delete Memory and Factory Preset options as described in section 9 of the user manual below:

Try resetting it. It appears to be a known issue.

I went out to the continental shelf fishing in depth of 250 meters . My echo sounder is a simrad nss evo 16. I had problems while drifting the sounder would freeze how can I fix this

Simrad CE33, I have only a blue screen when I switch it on

First thing to do is remove all cables and charts from the machine except the power cable. Try powering on and see what happens. If the same issue occurs it sounds like a boot code failure has occurred. Unfortunately, if that is the case those machines are no longer supported by Simrad and I would recommend looking around ebay or craigslist for another.

Most likely the unit needs the entire display replaced and moisture may have played a role in this.

Bad display depending on cost of unit may mean buying a new one.

assuming you have checked fuses etc you may have to use it as a lunch hook for your dingy...seriuosly..don't know ow old t is but a replacement is order methinks ...just like laptops they have improved greatly now and features abound screens are bigger and better...price has also dropped?

GPS/Fishfinder keeps dropping and restarting

Do a software upgrade to the CE33 unit and then a master reset by unplugging the power cable , then press and hold PWR and CLR buttoms while plugging back the power cable. Wait a couple of second while the software reloads and should run smooth....
NOTICE: All the previous data as routes, waypoints, etc that you had will be lost by the master reset.
