How do i install my sony cdx-f7500 unit, is there a manual/wiring diagram available.

I tried to take the 12v permanent wire off the back of the stereo to see if this would just operate the stereo when the ignition is switched on and not mean the stereo is on all the time. When doing so the 12v wire touched the back of the unit and sparked. The stereo no longer works...is there a quick fix or does it mean I have to buy a new stereo?
