Burning smell/noise with my Maytag Ensignia MAV7657EWQ Washer

My washer has started (not all the time) to pause after filling (never did that before). Now during that pause there is also a loud "buzzing" noise. Then the cycle starts and there is a burning smell. It does go through the whole cycle. The buzzing and the burning smell doesn't happen all the time but the pause between filling and starting the cycle is now every load. Can anyone help me pin-point the problem? Any suggestions on repairs for do it yourself-ers? Thank you!

It could be [motor] or 'condensur' for motor, starting to burn out or over heat, check drive belt as well for ware

i reccomend you check the drive belt if its worn, damaged, or misaligned. motor bearings that are damaged can result to result in grinding noise

If washer hums but doesn't fill, water isn't getting to washer check screens where fill hoses connect to washer. Screens may be blocked. If washer fills then hums check to make sure belt is on. Tip machine up to view belt underneath.

You need to observe and check after disconnecting the power , touch the motor, the element area or the control panel or the valves/pump.
If you notice any heat on these , it can be the culprit.
You can proceed to remove the suspected part to discover what was the reason for the burning rubber smell.

Maytag ensignia top load washer will not fill with water at start of the cycle?

The drain hose has to be at least 30 inches above the floor or gravity will drain the machine. Also: If the water hose is jammed into the drain a siphoning affect will occur in some instances.

My Maytag Ensignia Washer won't fill with hot water. It works fine on cold water but no water will enter the washer at all on "hot" setting.

I have the same problem. I'll post if I find a solution.

I had a squirrel(?) stuck in mine! I removed the lint pipe and it was really nasty. Something had chewed through the screen and climbed down the pipe to stay warm?? We live in Minnesota and it was cold as heck. Anyway, Have a shop vac ready, I hope this helps. Remove pipe at the dryer, push start a couple of times and see if anything blows out. K.J.

Washer won't do anything but fill.

It is very likely that the motor has burned out. What happens is that the water solenoid allows water to fill to a certain point where a fill sensor stops it. The program then moves on to activate the motor which will agitate the wash. So when power is supplied to the motor, it tries to start, overheats because of a break down of insulation in the windings, and you smell burning. Replace the motor.

You need to remove the cover and check the voltage to the cold water inlet valve. Do this with a volt meter while it is set to fill with cold water. It is most likely an AC voltage that is around 24 volts. If you have voltage then the valve is most likely bad.
