How to change a dryer belt on a GE 150 dryer model # GTDN550EDOWW

I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOUR MACHINE.
I HAD TO TAKE THE FRONT PANEL, INCLUDING THE DOOR, TO INSPECT A DRYER BELT RECENTLY. IT
SEEMED I COULD HAVE REPLACED A BELT IF I HAD TO. CHECK TO SEE IF YOU NEED A BELT OR IF YOURS NEEDS ADJUSTING AT BELT TENSIONER/
SAFETY SWITCH. YEARS AGO, I MANUALLY TURNED OUR OLDE DRYERS DRUM, THE WRONG WAY FROM
INSIDE THE OPEN DOOR. THE DARN BELT CAME OFF THE TENSIONER. THIS MAY NOT BE A PROBLEM WITH CURRENT DRYERS.

My dryer's belt broke and I cant find the part

WE12X1001, WE12X1000, WE12M29 are the three different belts used on GE Dryers and if you go to
https://www.geapplianceparts.com/GEApplianceParts/Dispatcher and do a search on these parts you will be able to purchase them directly from GE. You will need to look at your belt and pull the number off if your belt in order to assure you get the right one. If you require further assistance, please do not hesitate to ask.

To replace the belt on GE Dryer DISR473DG1WW, we will need to open the back of the cabinet, right? Is there a repair manual showing the process? Does this dryer ship with a spare belt inside?

Hello, W/D here.
I'm not aware of any dryers shipping with a spare belt on board, but this may vary by region.
You are correct in that the back is removed to gain access to the belt. Disconnect the power first. If there isn't a spare in the cabinet (probably not), take the old belt with you to your local appliance parts supply house and get a replacement, or it may be ordered on-line. The belt number will be on the belt.
Here's a good website showing how your model is assembled. This site also has parts descriptions and prices; useful for comparison shopping. There is also usually a button-link to a free downloadable manual. Here 'tis: http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/GE-Parts/Dryer-Parts/Model-DISR473DG1WW/0432/0151200?pathTaken=&prst=0&shdMod=DISR473DG1WW
Another good site to check for parts is: http//www.appliancepartspros.com.
Armed with these items, replacing the belt will be child's play for you!
Best regards, (and please rate this solution), --W/D--

GE dryer model dbvh512efoww has burning smell

UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE STARTING ANY REPAIRS
Your burning smell may be coming from your belt or an excess build up of lint in the exaust.
You will need to remove the vent exaust hose and clean it out, and also check the lint filter and discharge that is going to the hose for lint buildup.
Your other problem sounds like drum rollers have flat spots on them or in need of lubrication.
If you have a front loading machine,
Remove the electrical box that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer. Be real careful not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch. Then remove the top of the dryer.
Remove the front of the dryer. This will expose the drum and belt, remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers.
Check your rollers for flat spots, if they have flat spots on them replace them.
If they don't then they probably only need lubrication. Lubricate the shaft of the rollers with a good grade of machine oil such as 3 in One oil. Reassemble the dryer, plug back in. This should solve your noise problem.
I will include these two websites for parts and further help:
http://www.partselect.com/
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/index.aspx
Both also have chat assistance 24/7.
Good Luck,
I hope this helps

Need some assistance with a DDE7200SBLWW/model ge dryer

If the dryer is getting hot but not turning, you most likely need a new drum belt. If the belt is ok then you will need a new motor.

Ge dryer

you need to remove the front panel and kickplate (if you have one) This will allow you to detach the front of the top of the dryer and you can prop the top up while you replace the belt around the drum, down to the drive belt. Here's a link for your make and model. It shows an exploded view of the parts of your dryer. http://www.partselect.com/MultiModels.aspx?ModelNum=dde7100&searchTerm=&RefineSearch=0. This can help you figure out what parts you might need and how things go back together. Good luck!
