Make sure you're not in the macro mode. There's a slide switch on the end of the camera, near the SD card slot. Set this switch to the mountain position. Also bear in mind that the flash is for still photos only, not for videos.
Their is a button on there that looks like a lightning bolt. Push that
button until the third icon on the screen is a lightning bolt with an
'A' in the corner. Take a picture and it should flash.
Many cameras that capture videos, don't have a microphone to record the sounds. For all that the Vivitar 5022 does have, a microphone is not one of them. There is no sound recording capability for this model.
