SOURCE: comm manager

You should be able to leave all the settings on in the comm manager. Try just turning the wi-fi switch on when home, and off again when you leave.

SOURCE: Option to use SD card as usb not available

Ignore the manual..It directs you to drill down into the settings for the sd card and set it as mass storage..no such option exists in the menu.
Follow this:
plug in usb
go to NOTIFICATIONS
touch the notification in the list that refers to the usb having been connected..you will receive a prompt to "mount" the sd card.
now you can access it.
viola.

SOURCE: HTC Touch Phone is hung up with the following message:

Hi,

I've got the same problem and I finaly succeed to fix the problem.
Here is how to proceed:
1- push the upper side "power button" and the right side "Photo button" at the same time with one hand (yes, I know it's hard ;-))
2- With the stylus, press the reset button (the hole at the lower side)
3- Before the evil message comes up again, put your stylus down and press the central button and the left directional button simultaneously, keeping the two buttons of action 1 pressed (it's besome harder!)
4- If you succeed to press this four buttons for a while, your cell phone should come to life again!

The good thing is that the flash memory has not been erased and the previous content is still available.
The bad thing is that my "Photo button" is now unusable and each time I press the "Power button" it acts as the "photo button" did before.
The solution is to associate "No action" to the Button#1 in the configuration menu.

Another side effect: each time I press the reset button, I've got again the evil message and I have to proceed like above to recover my phone.

Well I hope this will help you.
Regards,

How to enable wifi only

  • First, tap on your Settings app (or icon if you have a shortcut on one of your home screens). It's the one that looks like a cog or gear. This will bring up the Settings menu.
  • On your Settings menu, tap on Wireless and network.
  • You should now see a list of wireless-related menus. Tap on the Flight mode - also generally known as Airplane mode - to disable all wireless connections. You'll know it's working because you get an airplane icon on your notifications bar.
  • Great, now you won't be getting any incoming calls. But wait! Now your Wi-Fi connection isn't working, either. Nice going, Jason, you regular Einstein. Hold on your horses, though, because we're not done yet. On that same wireless submenu, tap on Wi-Fi settings.
  • Click the option to Turn on Wi-Fi.
  • Look at your notification bar on your home screen again. You'll still have the airplane icon on, indicating that you won't get any calls. But you will also start seeing a Wi-Fi signal icon. Voila! Now you can connect to a Wi-Fi enabled router or hot spot without worrying about getting roaming charges.

Turn on your computer and locate the Wi-Fi icon. This could be located on the upper row on a laptop it will have the radiation look (((•))) Make sure its pressed on. Usually a wifi enabled phone, computer, or whatever device, will recognize if there is wifi access near you. If not you may need to turn on the wifi on those devices. Usually those setting can be found in menus like Network Settings. Once it recognizes the network you will need the password if it is required. Just enter that in and you are set. Where you enter the password is usually in the same menu in which you turned on your wifi enabled device. if still no connection Power on the laptop computer and wait for the operating system to boot. This brings up a selection of different possible Internet connections that are in range of the computer. Select the wireless Internet connection you want to use. If a password is required, you need to type it in now. Wait for the laptop to connect to the Internet. In a moment the computer is going to state it has successfully connected to the Internet. Click Start, Run type in cmd and click Ok to bring up a command prompt. Type ipconfig /all and press enter and see if it gives you an IP address similar to 192.168.1.100. Check your wireless connection properties under My Network Places. Right click the wireless connection icon and choose properties. MY SONNY ERICSSON X8 WHY I CAN'T GET THRU IN WIFI

To connect to a WLAN via Wi-Fi™:
  1. From the Home screen, find and tap Settings.
  2. Tap Wireless controls > Wi-Fi settings.
  3. Mark the Wi-Fi checkbox. Available Wi-Fi™ networks are displayed in a list under Wi-Fi networks. The available networks may be open or secured. This is indicated by the icon next to the network name.
  4. Tap a Wi-Fi™ network to connect to it. If you are trying to connect to a secured Wi-Fi™ network, you are asked to enter the security key for that Wi-Fi™ network before you can connect to it. The Wi-Fi™ connection is displayed in the status bar once you are connected.
Useful tip:
  • The next time you connect to a Wi-Fi™ network, the phone will remember the security key.
  • To enable Wi-Fi™ network notification of open networks, mark the Network notification checkbox.
  • To connect to another Wi-Fi™ network, just tap another Wi-Fi™ network in the Wi-Fi networks list.
  • To scan for Wi-Fi™ networks manually, press the Menu key and tap Scan. The phone scans for Wi-Fi™ networks and displays them in the Wi-Fi networks section.

Wifi problem

this may be alot of info to try and work through but if you actually did the step by step its pretty easy.. so lets get on with it...

your psps wifi is already active. you just have to find the access point to get online. 1st question. do you have wireless internet connection at home or is it wired. meaning this..... in your home internet setup you have a wire that comes into your home>that is connected to a modem>that is connected to a router that is wireless or wired router... in a wireless setup the computer(s) communicate with the router without any cables also know as wi-fi.

if your computer(s) uses wires/cables to connect to your router or a modem then you don't have wi-fi access zone meaning you won't be able to log online with your psp.

now with that out of the way if your home is set up for wi-fi you can set up your psp easily. but you would have to know few things about your internet setup

*NOTE* BEFORE WE START LETS MAKE SURE YOUR WLAN BUTTON ON YOUR PSP IS ON. LOOK ON THE TOP OF YOU PSP NEXT TO WHERE YOU PLUG IN THE CHARGER CABLE... THERE IS A WLAN SWITCH... SLIDE IT TO THE DIRECTION OF ARROW

1)on your psp go to settings
2)go to network settings
you'll get 2 options. adhoc mode and infrastructure mode. adhoc is for playing games with your friends by directly communicating between psp. infrastructure mode is where you go online using an access point i.e. wireless router or business that offer free wi-fi
3)click on infrastructure
4)click on new connection
which will bring you to WLAN SETTINGS screen
5)click on scan
it will show you 3 or 4 access point. always use the one with the highest signal.

this is where you have to know something about the setup of your own internet.

SSID is service set i.d. -- it is just a name you give your home network when you set it up. i.e. jones, or myhome, or whatever u called it..

6)on the next screen is where u put in the SSID. so ask whoever set up your home network to see what they set it up as.

on the next screen is the WLAN security setting which is another way of saying password. again ask the person who set up your home network what this is. some people have not set up a password so this step could be easy. if this is the case with yours just click on "none" but if you have a password set up on your home network click on one of the other three (wep, wpa-psk (tkip) or wpa-psk (aes)). in my home i have it set up as wpa-psk (tkip) so i click that one. when i do it'll take me to WPA KEY...again another word for password

7)so put in WPA key (password) of your network
once that is done go to the next screen which will be address setting

8)click on easy to make it easy

9)enter the connection name... you can call it whatever u want.... if you go out alot to the different fastfoods and coffee houses you can set it each one of them with their name. for example if you set up your psp to be able to access wi-fi at mcdonalds you can name it mcd. and another for starbucks if you set up your psp to access their wi-fi, and another for library...so on and etc....
10) on the next screen is where you double check all the info you put in
11) and finally to save your settings.

after that click on "test connection" and if you set it all up correctly you get a page that shows you your connection info. if not it'll be on connecting to access point, obtaining i.p. address. if it stays on this screen for longer than few minutes or you get time out message something is not set up right. and you should retry the steps.

if you don't know your network settings one easier way of trying out your wi-fi is go to one of the local fastfood or coffee houses or library or book store that offer free wi-fi to test it out. just follow the steps

6)the highest signal will be the access point for the store u are in. click on it and it should bring you to the stores policy page and after clicking agree you should be good to go.

hope this helps... could get/look complicated but it really isn't
