Same Problem, Same Laptop

I've had the same problem The August driver update from nVidia alleviated the problem at least with the Open GL apps, though I did have a driver restart shortly after install while scrolling a large .pdf.
I have played Call of Duty 4 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare for hours online with no video issues whatsoever.

Some times Driver updates are not always good! Try going into the computer management and rolling back the drivers to at least 2 before. You can get there by opening any explorer window and left clicking on the "This PC" then selecting "manager". There you will find the driver tab.
If that doesn't help then uninstall all Nvidia software, go to the same management, uninstall the card its self. Reboot and let Microsoft do its thing.

SOURCE: I have a Gateway MX8734

Hi,

I see how frustrating it can be to have a computer that is as unreliable. In this issue, as you described, I see that there are a couple of things that might be causing the failure in your portable system. One is the video card driver, another is the memory module. The reason for the failure on the memory module is that once an operating system is loaded into a computer, it gets loaded in the memory module, and failure of the device will usually result to BSOD.

Here is what you can try to do to further isolate the issue.

1. uninstall the video driver of your computer
a. press the windows key + R
b. type devmgmt.msc then click on ok
c. click on the plus sign beside the display adapter and you should see there something that says Intel GMA 950 Dynamic Video.
d. right click on that item and then choose uninstall.
e. download this file into your computer desktop: video driver
f. restart your computer. when it asks for a video driver for your computer, cancel it then double click on the driver that you downloaded into your desktop.

if this does not resolve the issue, you will need to do trial and error on the memory module on your computer.

2. Reseat the memory module on your computer. Download this user manual so that you will be guided in getting access to the memory module of your computer.

3. if step 2 does not work try to work your computer with one memory module at a time (assuming that you have two memory module installed in your computer. This is to find out if there are any defective memory module installed in your computer.

I do hope this information is enough to fix your computer. Do give me an update on what happens so that we will be able to further diagnose your concern.

Note: it would help much if you take a note on the BSOD error that you encounter.

NVIDIA + BenQ incorrect resolution

Hello try to renew the graphic driver from here:

http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

Please choose the graphic card model in selection box.

Remember also to choose your windows system.

My advice is to uninstall all the the old software, before you install the new.

Try to change the screen resolution, when the installation is done.

Good luck

I have problem with display drivers on my compaq presario cq60 - 209tu i m having windows 7 as my os pls help me

Have you tried downloading the Display driver from HP's website and installing that? Maybe "Windows Update" updated your driver to a non-working one with your hardware... You can download the Driver here: http://goo.gl/g7Y5m - But please check your Device manager to see if you have Nvidia graphics or Intel Graphics in your machine, as it seems like the machine exsists with both variants.

Make sure you are running any software you are trying to install on win 7 as administrator, second go to nvidia.com and choose manual install, give the name of the card and windows version, it will tell you which is the latest driver, third if all else fails, uninstall the driver via devices and let windows install it for you, What ever you do, make sure your running the machine in admin, see google how to do that and you will be able to change any aspect of your operating system,

My laptop screen will go blank and then I get a error message that says the nvidia stopped working. How can I fix this is happening more often

Hi there,

It sounds like you have a problem with your nVidia driver on your laptop.

Possible solutions for a fix:

1) Click on your start menu - in the search box type in "windows update" and press enter. This will open windows update. Click check for updates and then open the "optional updates" and see if there is anything for your nVidia driver.

2) If windows does not find an update then you can go to the Samsung website and download the nVidia drivers for your computer from there: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/downloads/
Make sure you select the nvidia driver and not the intel graphics driver.

Find out what video card or accelerator you have this can be found in device manager in display adapters, then go to your computer's manufacturer or nvidia or ati or amd or intel's website, go to support, drivers and downloads, enter the name of your graphics card or accelerator or computer and and find the latest driver for your vga as later drivers may have updated support for open gl.

My laptop when playing games gets to 88-106 C games such as warhammer online or dawn of war 2 could u tell me what the problem is

Hi,
Laptops are not really designed for heavy gaming like warhammer.
The reason the laptop is getting hot is because all the system resources are being used to power the graphics card so you get a decent gaming experience, the more you work the laptop the hotter it will get.
If you want to do some serious gaming then it's recommended that you get a desktop for that purpose as with a desktop you can change the internal components to suit you.
If you want to carry on using the laptop then it's a good idea to purchase a cooling mat for the laptop to help keep it cool while play your games.
If you carry on playing heavy games as you are then at some point the graphics chip burn out.

Regards.
