DVD player won't play new movies

DVD player will play the previews, ads, etc. just fine. When I select "Play", I see the FBI warning, but the movie doesn't play - screen just goes black. No V-Chip settings have been set. This only seems to happen with new DVDs, noticeably Disney. Only good suggestion I've heard is that I may need to upgrade the DVD

Try this

1.While the previews are playing, press the Menu Button on your DVD player remote to access the DVD's Main Menu.
2.Go to Scene Selection and press your Enter or Ok button on your DVD player remote.
3.Highlight Scene 2 and press the Enter or Ok button. This will start the DVD in Scene 2.
4.Use your rewind or reverse button on your DVD player remote to rewind back to the beginning of Scene 1.

If other discs are playing fine it is best to give the benefit of doubt to the player and not to worry more as this can be a damaged disc, a pirated disc or one with a region lock.Some times certain players will not play as the tracks can have errors due to damage and so the processor will protect.

Keeps playing previews over and over. How do I get it to play movie!!
You need to use the remote to select the menu and play . It will be seen on the screen being an interactive process. Click the menu to open up and select play movie to click.

Usually most DVD's play movie trailers and sometimes advertisement before the movie will play. Once the ads or trailers are done it should go to the menu screen and at that point "play" or something like that should be underlined. If it is you can press play or select on the DVD player then the movie should start : )

We are having trouble getting the Samsung Blu Ray player to show the blu ray movie Prince of Persia. It plays the previews over and over but will not play the movie itself.
As in standard DVD players, they sit in preview mode until you select the play button on screen with the remote controller.

Have a phillips DVDR3455H/97 dvr. rented a dvd and it will play all previews. when i select to play the actual movie, it never plays it. display on dvr says ''menu''. suggestions?
Some DVD players use different button's to start the dvd movie from the main menu be sure to try them all mine has a play button but you have to press "enter" to get the dvd to play...the unit displaying "menu" is normal

is this on all dvds you play even none store dvd's or just the store one,s only ?

this could be a region code or laser miss reading the disc.
