Hi, This is usually just a case of a replacement switch that is approx £12-£15 from an Audi dealer. I had the same issue and this fixed it.

    I had this same problem in my 1997 Audi Cabriolet. You need to find the power window module under the dashboard near the steering wheel. It's a small plug in box about the size of a cigaratte pack. Take out the module and pry the plastic case off. Then inspect all the solders on the circuit board. I found a broken solder joint, re-did it and it works perfectly. The dealer wanted $500.00 for just the part.

If you can raise and lower the window by hand, then it's the regulator. 9 times out of 10 it will be the regulator. I have a 2003 A4 and both rear window regulators are broken.

Audi Cabriolet 1996 the drivers window won't go up
I had this same problem and the only switch that worked was the master control between the seats. Under the dash near the steering column is the power window module. Take that out and pry off the plastic cap. Inspect for bad solder joints on the printed circuit board. I re-soldered a bad joint on mine and it fixed the problem. Audi wanted $500.00 for the part only!

Electric windows
If no windows are working, check fuse in fuse box. If it is just one window, then it may be switch or motor that needs to be tested for current with voltmeter.

you will need to remove just two parts well maybe three. the door trim there are a couple of hidden screws that are behind the hand grab that you will have to pull a plastic cover off of also screws on the bottom of the panel that should pull that off then there will be a plastic cover behind that carefully remove this you NEED to reinstall it. there are three 10 mm nuts that hold your window regulator in place when you hit the button can you hear the motor moving, in that door? if so GOOD. there will bee a broken clip that holds your window in place. will need that part carefully install and replace everything back should be good to go good luck. hope that helps. This is not an easy job.

Driver side front and rear windows do not work
Look down inside the door arm rest with the switch out see if any wires are broken.And sometimes you have to change both switches.There are ways of testing but it's complicated.you have to test for feed and grounds for this problem.
