Cavity therm is bad probably, some people use the micro as a timer thinking they are using the kitchen timer and it burns out the cavity therm. get a qualified svc company to replace the therm, if it is the therm it wont heat or start or anything, if its just the timer thats not working then i suggest a new clock board.

1= reset the c.breaker from your home see if are tripped and reset.
2= open for thermal fuse open, test continuity with DVOM OR VOM and replace.
3) test the power cord for open or broken or break.
4= check the switch for door maybe is open must be continuity until 0 , or swtich defective see the diagram attached. God bless you

I inadvertently had the power on rather than the "kitchen timer"-about 10 minutes. I switched to the kt, but everything went dead within a minute. Did I kill it?

Wait an hour or so, it may come back on, there are thermostats inside, some of them are self-resetting, some are not. Good luck.

I have a three year old Samsung SMH7177 microwave that went dead while my wife was using the timer. I found two fuses behind the touch panel and both are good. I checked the power cord and it's good too....

wel your still alive then? your a very lucky man!!!!
inside that microwave are well over 1000 volts,,, and if you just brushed up on the wrong part your dead!
oh by the way, thats what kills cat's as well?
in my mind im thinking it was just bad luck the unit give up the gost when it did, its not a fuse,, its the timer chip! only one thing left to do now,, bin it! then play the smart one on the wife,, tell her she broke the microwave, so you got her a new one, (what a nice man you are) and clame your prize??? nod nod wink wink??? know what i mean?? after that buy yourself some thing nice too, smart "A"? now to get a bit smarter,,, dont play inside a microwave unless you realy wont to fry yourself, at the very least its realy going to bite,,, you very hard too

EVERY PART OF THE MICROWAVE STOPPED WORKING

There is an internal fuse inside. Need to find the cause for it blowing or it will just go again. Check the monitor switch and door switches. Eric

Blowing fuses

[double post]

If it went dead almost immediately after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a shorted high-voltage capacitor.

If it went dead a few seconds after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a failing high-voltage transformer.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.

But I would wait until the authorized servicer gets there (or take it to them) to maintain your warranty.

Mv-15158 dead stopped when the kitchen timer was running no lights but electrical is ok will not do anything

thank you, but after talking to goldstar customer service and finding out everything I did was correct and I would need a service call I threw it out and I am going to get a new one. Not worth the cost of service and parts.
