I just bought a router in order to operate wireless laptop at home. The router installed well to my fix PC through the attached cd software. Now I'm trying to connect the laptop. EasyLink Advisor has established a wireless connection to the router, but failed to detect an internet connection. Why the PC connected to internet and the laptop cannot???
If you are having problems with your Linksys routers, reset the router and configure it again. In configuring the router, I suggest that you use the online tool that will automatically configure your router. It is similar with the setup cd but the online tool works better. The reason why the setup cd fails is that it has its own bugs. So just use the online tool. You can get the online tool on this website--www.linksys.com/easy.
I don't recommend using the software as most of the time, it either prevents a connection to the router or a connection to the internet. Sometimes both. (I've seen it.)
Instead, use Windows XP's built-in Wireless Zero Configuration (Or use Vista's built-in wireless network detection.) As long as your drivers for your wi-fi adapter are properly installed, you shouldn't have problems using the built-in connection methods.
As for the software... All it's really there to do is help you to bypass the default security of the router in order to get initially connected. I've found the software to be nothing but troublesome in the long-run.
My recommendation is to remove the Linksys software. If you are not able to connect to the router after that, use an ethernet cable to attach the PC to the router so that you can configure the router. Set up wireless security that way.
Once you have configured the wireless security, you should know what your encryption key is. (Write it down for yourself.) Use the built-in wi-fi configuration tools in Windows to seek out the wireless router and connect to it. Type in your key when asked for it and you shouldn't have any problems.
You may consider using the RESET button on the back of the router if you continue to have issues.
One other problem I've often run into is using DSL with the Linksys WRT54G routers. Some DSL modems just aren't compatible with the WRT54G routers. Primarily the older DSL modems.
For example... I had a client recently who had bought the WRT54GS router. He just could NOT get it connected to his DSL modem. Even using the Linksys software. It just wouldn't use the router as a legit gateway device. (He was connected by ethernet and could get into the router's config interface.)
I eventually advised him to contact Qwest and have them send him a much newer version of their DSL modems. (The one he had was a DINOSAUR.) They sent him a new one. Once he got the newer one, we were able to get it networked right away. WITHOUT any extra software. Just using Windows.
Also be sure to check the configuration of your wi-fi adapter in your laptop. Make sure that it is not configured with an old configuration and is set to automatically get an IP from your router. Don't use a static IP while trying to troubleshoot your problem. Let the router configure the IP of your laptop for you. It could just be something as simple as the DNS servers aren't configured properly. (You can find your internet IP and DNS servers in the router's status page, by the way.)

One thing to mention...
Windows keeps a list of wireless networks that you have previously connected to. I would try clearing that list by removing all entries. (You'll have to do it one at a time.)
Those entries have prevented me from obtaining a connection on several occasions. Especially if the list contains the name of a router that I've connected to before - and the name of that router is the same as the router you are currently connecting to.

There really isn't much more information to go over pertaining to your situation. I gave you pretty much all that there is - considering you didn't really tell us much more to work with. (Such as what you did with the software, what your network settings were, etc.)

that Windows keeps. Vista has it, too. Delete all entries from that
list and REBOOT the machine.
Vista in particular seems to have an issue with being
connected...losing connection then NOT BEING ABLE TO RECONNECT when you
try to.
Clearing that list and rebooting fixes the issue for several of my own
personal clients here in my local area. It's a Vista issue from what I
can tell.

Check the wireless router and high-speed modem.
If the two are not powered on, or if the Ethernet cable connected the two is not completely inserted into both connection ports, you are unable to access the Internet on the Acer Aspire One laptop computer.
Activate the wireless Internet connection on the laptop computer.
Right-click the wireless icon on the desktop, then choose "Enable" from the pop-up menu.
Without activating the wireless receiver on the Acer Aspire One, the laptop is unable to detect any wireless network.
Select the appropriate network you wish to connect to.
Your computer may be attempting to connect to a different Internet connection, preventing you from access the network you desire. Right-click the wireless icon, select "Search for available wireless networks," then choose the network you want to access.
Restart the computer.
The system may have booted and failed to detect the wireless receiver. Restarting the computer corrects this issue.

Gateway laptop with realtek wireless
turned off radio (Fn+F2) and when I turned it back on could not connect. Windows Vista doesn't detect the wireless anymore. Checked wireless is on. Reset router. Another laptop detects and connects through wireless. Used manage wireless to make sure everything is there. Updated driver from internet. Ran diagnostics - finds no problem. Checked hardware - says working properly.

I have 2 desktop computers and two laptop in my house, which all have Internet connections through a Linksys Wireless router. Both my desktop computers are wired up, and the Internet connection is working fine. My laptop is using wireless, and that was working perfectly normal until three day ago. I got a message on the laptop saying that "No wireless networks were found in range" or "Wireless connection unplugged", or something like that.

I have two laptop computers and I am trying to use the Wireless G Router to connect to the internet. I have a Greyfox router that connects to a modem for my DSL internet access. Am able to connect to internet via hardware. Both laptops recognize the wireless router signal and connect to router but not able to access internet. There was a time when I was able to use wireless router.
