most of the times is a wrong username / password issue.
most people forget the @ after the username.
for example my username is "jimmy" but in the modem i should enter: [email protected] because otenet is my provider... if i was on forthnet i should write [email protected] etc.
the easyest way to fix this is to call your providers helpdesk. they can see in their computers if you are connected or not and check your username or password and many other technical things that can help you solve this.
what u need to do is go to the interface of ur thomson speed touch through writing the ip address of that modem on the address bar of ur internet browser then go in that setup....Choose router instead of bridge.
your downloading speed depends on your connection primarily and not your modem, check what connection you have. the downloading speed is much less than the connection speed.
conncection---------downloading speed(Avg)
256kbps30kbps
512kbps60kbps
1mbps~110kbps
etc.
You must be having a 256 Kbps connection that is why your downloading speed is very slow.
open the web browser, type in "10.0.0.138" without the quote in the address bar, press enter. that should bring you the the log in screen of the speed touch.
type in "admin" with password of "SpeedTouch" S and T are capped.
to configure the DSL go to the following link and select the configuration you are look for. http://www.grandecom.net/site-file.php?fid=37
Installation Disks hardly work for the installation... Try to contact the Tiscali Service Provider and get the uid and the password for the network access. Once you are done with this, you need to configure the modem st585 for the internet connectivity. Check the Proper VPI/VCI with the Tiscali people. Reply back if any issues.
I had the same problem to begin with. Here is what the Zoom helpdesk suggested: "To force the dsl light to stop blinking, please follow these steps.
1)
Open up your web browser and type 10.0.0.2 in the address bar. Type in the the
username and password to log in to the modem. username: admin password:
zoomadsl
2) When you get to the address bar, Click on advance
setup.
3) Click on ADSL Configuration.
4) Change the standard to
G.Dmt and change the activate line to Start.
5) Save changes and then
write settings to flash.
Within a 1 or 2 minutes, the dsl light should go
solid."
