Note:- I'm in the UK. Two problems which appear to be linked. Firstly, when I insert a tape into the camera, I often find it difficult to close the "door" (i.e. when this clicks shut, this activates the mechanism that lowers the cassette deck into the camera and spools the cassette around the heads), meaning that you cannot get the actual casette into the camera.
On inspection there appears to be two springs that help pull the "door" into place. When in place, this clicks two feeder runners which set off the insertion mechanism.
Also, if a tape insertion is successful an error message "Reinsert the cassette" appears on the screen display. The camera cannot be used.
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks

This happened to me in June. I used a head cleaner, and this seemed to work for about 2 months. Then the same problem again...
SOURCE: reinsert cassette
Turn the unit off and hit the back of the camera twice near the battery compartment with the palm of your hand. Sounds crazy but it worked with my camcorder Sony DCR-TRV480. Problem started when I used 8MM Head Cleaner. I think the roller got stuck inside camcorder. The trouble code came up C:31:22. Hope this helps.

Hi, I had the same problem. When I inserted the new (or old ) cassette, it was showing me the same simbol as you are describing here.... The one thing to do here is to let it check in some CamcorderReparingCentre. After I let it to repare it they told me that there was some kind of engine broken , I paid £60 for reparing but my camcorder is working again, properly like before...
