You might need to do a bit more than this, I had the same problem, my Hotpoint WD860 didn\'t seem to wash the clothes very well, they kept on coming out smelly, as you describe it as a musty smell. I took the panel off at the rear, at the bottom, 2 screws hold it in, and behind this is the pump and the filter, you need to take the water drain hose off and remove the black rubber piece off the pump, the larger part of the black rubber assembly contains the filter which should be self cleaning but mine was gummed up with coins, hairclips, pieces of bra (the wire bits) and various other pieces of garbage which was stopping the water flowing out properly.
You need to clean the draw and the inside of the draw and clean the rubber door seal all way round when you done that use a washer clean detergent whitch should be at a super market. and run it at 90 or 95 temp cottons wash it should stop the smell beacause dirt is buliding up so a good clean should stop it.hope this helps.
