No sound on my LG VU without headphones

Go into your settings menu and check your sound levels.
Settings - Sound.
Most Android phones have separate volume levels for notifications, music, and calls. Chances are your notification volume is turned all the way down.

Go to Settings - Sound - system tab (at the bottom of the screen, just scroll if you don't see it) - push Notification sound and choose a sound.

You may want to check your Sound-Volumes to check if notifications are not muted.

It happened to me the other day... My phone worked for a call, then I took a nap with my headphones plugged into the phone. Then, I bleive what happened was I pulled the headphones out without turning the music off. Then my phone had the same problem. Also, my music would not play without headphones.

I tried to goto Verizon today and they gave me the runaround. Then tonight, I had the phone plugged into a soundboard at my bar to play music and I pulled the cord without turning the music off and it started playing out of the phone as normal. Then I tried calling my friend and it worked. The text problem went away too.

Yepper. Call your service provider. There are too many variables here to give you exactly the right answer.

I'm having the same problem. Try this, plug some headphones into your phone and then activate your music and while your music is playing unplug your headphones. It worked for me.

Yeah, i also had this problem with my dare. I did what was already posted, plugging and unplugging my headphones until i got the message about there being no microphone. The speakers and microphone on the phone works now.

You can change the text message alert tones but you have to do it by accessing the phone's file system via a data cable connected to your computer. Goto lg-vu.com and search for text alerts and you'll find detailed instructions on how to do it.
