Hi
I know the reply is a bit late but I had a similar problem.
The problem is with one IC close to where the motor wire are connected. This particular IC overheats and that was causing a malfuction. So I have installed a small heat sink and now all is well.
Hope this works for you too

All the best - Clayton

Panasonic BTT268 tray wont open

Dear Scott,

If there is a CD stuck inside a CD/DVD reader, you could try using a medium sized paper clip straightened up. Insert it in the small hole in the front of the DVD player bezel and push it till it opens the mechanism. Please, have a look at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fa_4CsS7MKw

The problem can also be caused if one of the rubber band that moves the DVD drive "door" has dried out, or even if the power supply in not properly connected to the drive.

Hope you may find this info hopeful!

Tray won't open

by just resetting the software will not work this is a mechanical problem this usually happens on players that is not use for a long time or improper closing of tray..fixing this kind of problem requires opening the cover of the unit..you need to lubricate all moving gears and parts by putting enough amount of lubricating oil..you have also need to assist the motor manually by helping it to push the tray out just gently pull the tray with your hands during a eject command on the unit clean also the limit switches of the tray make that contact are properly working..good luck!

Go Video DV 2150 - DVD door won't open at all. You can hear a mechanism working behind the closed door, but nothing happens and the door remains shut. Any advice??

There is a small belt under the loading tray which would have gone slack ( loose ) and the sound you hear is it slipping on the motor pulley. If you are confident you can remove the mechanism and turn it upside down and access this belt. Dismantle only if you can get the spare belt or your efforts will be in vain.

Tray will not open on my dv-605

Solution: Unplug power from wall. (Don't just turn off!) Next: Remove exterior case. Now gently turn the CD changer clockwise one position. Power up and try again.

I had this same problem after unit appeared to have froze up when unpacked from a shipping box. The CD changer had got off track and by gently moving the CD changer 1 position it fixed the problem. Works fine now.

Best of luck,

BLOCKED MESSAGE ON YAMAHA DV-S5450 DVD PLAYER

The DV-S5450 may use a belt-loading mechanism. The belt is typically black rubber band with a diameter of approximately 2 cm. It is commonly found in front-loading CDROMs for computers also. Often, as a result of age, usage, humidity, etc the belt snaps, rendering the loading impossible. The loading motor doesn't just pop the tray in or out. It also engages a clutch assembly that raises an inserted disk or lowers a disk to be ejected; this explains why you can't simply force out the tray. Clearly in your case all the electronic signals are there and the loading motor does turn.

Solution: switch off and unplug the unit and then open it up. Do a quick inspection to see if you can locate the broken rubber band. If you can, remove it and take it along with you to the nearest repair shop for exact replacement. If you are finicky around technical work, simply a competent person do it for you. Good luck.
