I have a coleman generator model pmo477022. it is not putting out enough volts.
What can happen with these generators is there is a shield built into them to devert the heat that is produced but it is still released into the surrounding components and causes a plastic rain guard to melt slightly around the edges and the melted plastic fuses to the armature and causes voltage drop through the brushes due to lack of contact. It is a relatively simple fix but it requires a rebuild kit that can be purchased aftermarket through your local generator dealer. It provides instructions for the rebuild but are often times confusing and it is usually cheaper in the long run and less hassel to let the dealer install the rebuild kit for you. If you do decide to attempt this yourself there is an 800 number provided where it can be registered and it will allow you to access schematics online for this rebuild. Hope this helps, good luck!
