DV6000 No Video on LCD screen

I have a DV6000 MODEL (DV6208NR) its about 3yrs old.....its a Vista model with 1GB RAM and 100GB HD.....Its a AMD with Nvidia card.

So my problem is..now when i turn on my laptop the screen stays BLANK and about 15 seconds later my laptop restarts on its own.

I have removed/reset the RAM & the Hard Drive and have also tried to hook it up to external monitor......still noting....Im scratching my head thinking maybe video chip?

Any ideas how to fix it or does it have to be reflowed?

Im a little computer savy but not to much on laptops.....just desktops.

Thanks

There is a very common issue with the HP DV60xx series overheating (due to the Nvidia video chip) that causes these laptop system boards to fail. There is a listing of the "affected models" http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=1842189&lang=en&docname=c01300427#c01300427_dv20
And based on your product number you may have an extended warranty. As far as I understand, this extended warranty is limited to AMD processor based units which use the NVIDIA GPU (graphical processing unit) .
I would check the link I posted above, see if your Product number (usually a white sticker on the bottom near your serial number) is on the list and then call hp.
Good luck :)

Describe your HP Pavilion dv6000z 15.4" Notebook Laptop PC (AMD Turion 64 X2 Duo Core TL-50 1.60GHz, 1GB RAM, 100G... (d6000z) PC Notebook Problem SCREEN WONT TURN ON LED LIGHTS OF POWER BUTTON...

The dv6000 series was commonly affected by the video card heating up and reseating itself. This was usually a soldering issue. You have a few options, You can either replace the motherboard, or have the motherboard reflowed. Unfortunately the video card itself is not detachable or individually replaceable.

I personally would recommend the second option as purchasing another dv6000 board will likely end you up in the same situation a year or 2 later.

Not working

Hp recall this model due to a problem in the gpu(graphics processor=nvidia)the main problem it is that you didnt have video in your lcd or external monitor but leds turn on blue or red.

Solution: You need to re-heat your gpu ad apply termal compound to avoid further damage, you need to remove your Mobo and your heatsink to have acces to your nvidia membrane processor, sounds complicated and it is, we can fix this problem in our store at 10001 buckwood ave 79925 El paso tx. for $80

If you have the expertise or the tools you can do for yourself we can fix around 8 dv2000/dv6000/dv9000 laptops per week and we have our process with 30 days warranty.

Compare which is better hpDV900 amd -HPDV2000 intel

IF THE CONFIGURATION STATED BY YOU IS CORRECT THEN I WOULD SURELY GO FOR DV2000 BEACUSE OF HIGHER MEMORY(3 GB) AND AN INTEL PROCESSOR BECAUSE THE AMD PROCESSOR OF DV 9000 WILL GET SO HEATED AFTER ABOUT AN HOURS USE THAT YOU WONT BE ABLE TO KEEP IT ON YOUR LAP ... HOWEVER I STILL DOUBT THE CONFIGURATION .. CAUSE ACCORDING TO ME THE CONFIG OF DV2000 IS INTEL CORE 2 DUO T5500 1.66GHZ 1GB RAM AND 100GB HDD WHICH IS NOT AT ALL PREFERABLE BY ME
