HP Pavilion dv9000 dies out.

About 6 months after bying my pavillion it has started to die at random points. If i run a program such as a game the power dies on it after about 2 minuets. If i run programs that use a smaller amout of processing power it will stay on for 30 minuets to a few hours, and if i only use the internet it will stay on for most of the day. I ran a bunch of hardware tests and they all say that everything is healthy.

The power just goes out, no shutdown and no battery drain. I tried the canned air thing with no change, and The VC drivers are up to date.

When you say the power dies, is the battery drained or does it simply power off? If it powers off, try blowing out your fans with canned air while the system is off. Also update your video card drivers.

Try booting your computer in safe mode... when your machine starts press F8 and go to Windows. Run for a couple of hours and see if this problem happens.

If you have system restore running, restore back to a point when you didnt have the problem

dv2000/dv6000/dv9000 recall
I have an out of warranty dv9000 and haven't had wireless for months. I just discovered HP issued a recall for the wireless and other problems with several different Pavilion and Presario models. For the wireless problem with the dv9000 they are replacing the motherboard on all notebooks in or out of warranty. I was wondering if anyone has had the repair done under the recall and how it turned out? I'm also wondering if HP is still cosmetically trashing notebooks when they are sent in for repair?
Here is the link for the recall:

Motherboard has died 3 times in 13 months

Hi there
Sounds like a generic problem you are having, get HP to change it for a different model if they will as you are entitled to under the consumers act.

Good luck with them

Lay your finger flat down, with the first section of your finger above the reader, then keeping it totally flat, gently but firmly and slowly, glide it across the reader, moving it toward your right side after you have ran it across, as make an "L" shape. Be sure to go slow, and keep it flat.
