Nortel i2050 softphone can't connect to server using Livebox

Hi,

I have a home network based on ADSL from Orange in France. I have a Livebox (old one, not the new smaller Livebox). I also have taken the option Phone over ADSL from Orange and have the DECT dongle attached to the Livebox, the VoIP service works fine. However, for my work, I also have a Nortel i2050 softphone and this cannot now connect to the IPT server when I am on my home network. If I am in the office, the i2050 works fine, so it is some config in the Livebox, I guess. I am using v3.2 i2050 client. Anyone out there in France or UK had the same issue and managed to solve? Greatly appreciate any direction with this.....

I am in france trying to connect my macbookair to a french livebox

Yes, you need to press button #1 on the livebox , which will put it into 'accepting new wifi devices' mode. This lasts about 1 hour.Presumably you've entered the wep key from the label on the bottom of the livebox into your macbook? don't forget it's got to be UPPERCASE characters!

Wanadoo router (Livebox) is "open"

Welcome to FixYa.

If you are in France, then chances are, your internet service provider is not ORANGE Broadband? (http://shop.orange.co.uk/broadband/)

Wanadoo router (livebox) has locked its router for their broadband service only or at least an affiliated one.

Try to use the CD that came with it to setup the connection and you will find out while entering your username and password, you will receive and error that says what you entered is not a domain used by Wanadoo.

Livebox will not try to authenticate over PPPoA unless the user has entered a username within a Wanadoo domain.

That is why there is no way to login to it's GUI (http://192.186...).

You can try http://192.168.1.200 or http://192.168.1.1 (this one should be the correct one)

There is no contact information for France since the internet service provider of Wanadoo operates only in the UK. (http://shop.orange.co.uk/broadband/)

I hope this information will save you time in searching for answers that do not matter.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Have a great day.

Belkin wireless adapter g usb

WPA is safer as all in all it's a lot harder to crack due to being a lot more characters in the passkey. The easiest thing to do would be explain how i have mine set up. And you could compare the 2.. As i have XP Desktop & Vista aswell. So your Laptop connects ok now but is still an unsecure network.. On your Dektop. When you try to connect. Are you entering the 26 character key on the bottom of the livebox?

The main thing to realise with the Livebox is everything is reversible.. And to not worry about changing something..

So let's get this started, When you open up the " Connect To A Network " you can see your Livebox-XXXX. Next to that does it say "Unsecured Connection"? If this is the case then your Livebox is still not properly configured.. What i would recommend doing is starting a fresh with the Livebox, and i explain how to set it all up from Default. icon_smile.gif

IF you don't remember your internet login details then go to "Configuration.adsl" and click My Services then Internet. Your info will be in there. Hopefully you remember your password.. icon_smile.gif

If you don't know how to do a reset of your liveox. Press and hold the "1" button on the back of your livebox. Unplug it from the mains whilst still holding the "1" for 10 seconds. Then plug it back in. [ still holding the "1" ] The lights will flash a bit and after a minute or two it will go back to normal.

Go back to "configuration.adsl"
Username: Admin
Password: Password

If i start from the top section and work down it should make it easier to follow:
My Services>Internet>Connection Parameters Filled In..
Phone Over ADSL> Nothing needs changing
Digital TV> Nothing Needs Changing.
Liveprinter> Nothing Needs Changing.
Submit

Security> Associated Devices> Will Be Empty
Firewall> Medium
Wireless Connection> Channel Number> 11
Security Key(WPA-TKIP)> Same As What's On Bottom Of Livebox.
Enable Wireless Lan> Ticked.
Submit

Configuration> Update> v5.10.7-uk
Administrator> Change the password while you're there..
Submit

Advanced> Wireless> Pairing Time> 10 minutes should be fine.
Your Livebox name can be left as it is.
WPA Security Only
Wi-Fi Easy Pairing.. Might aswell leave it on..
Submit

Now if we set up your laptop first.
Go into Connect To A Network. Your Livebox should be there. It also SHOULD say Secured Network. If there is a Red Cross then you will need to do what i suggested yesterday on my previous post.

Go back to connect.. Enter the 26 char. passkey with caps lock on.. And you should be connected no problem.

Now for the Desktop.

when you log on.. In the taskbar in the bottom right should be something to do with wireless networks. Double click this.. If it mentions something about using the software that came with the device.. Then use the software.. If not then windowsXP will show your network. Double click it.. Enter the same 26 character code.. And you SHOULD be connected.

Let me know if that works.. Sorry for the really long post, but detail is something i do quite well... icon_smile.gif

Connecting powerline ethernet adapters through orange livebox

Try to eliminate the problem into smaller parts. Try networking the two via the same power outlet via a multiple power board first in the same room. I don't have much experience with these powerline ethernet but i'm sure the configuration of these will be very similar as wireless router / access points and wireless adapter cards. However what I do know is that your power outlets need to be on the same "phase" of your electrical power system, so if you do this test I suggest (from one outlet board) you know the equipment works and your setup procedure works. then try seperating again and if it still doesnt work, check if your power outlets are wired on seperate phases (depends if your house has 3 phase wiring incoming to your home or not). Try another room or another outlet.
