Horizontal lines Hi.....My monitor has horizontal lines that increase, decrease or almost dissapear in number depending on the position of the windows that you open and the content of what you are watching.....When you open the OSD Menu it tends to get worse and the image almost flickers in the position of the OSD.....I think that the more detailed the image is, more lines and streaks appear......I would appreciate your help...Thanks in advance.

My monitor has the vertical deflection ok and when you turn it on, for a period of time it looks ok and you can watch it perfectly, but when you open a video window, the lines appears.....You can watch de video, but with some lines jumping on it.....If you close the video window, the lines could dissapear or decrease.......I have also noticed that the position of an open window on the desktop, results in an increase or decrease of the number of lines, i.e., when you drag the window to different positions on the screen, the horizontal lines tend to form on the edges of the window and move with it........I hope this could clear my problem a little bit....Thanks once again for your help......Im witing for more comments......Thanks.

My monitor has the vertical deflection ok and you can watch it all the time....but when you open a video window for instance, horizontal lines appear on it...You can watch the video, but with the lines jumping on it, depending of the images of the video.....I hace also noticed that when you open a window, the lines appear on the edges of the window from side to side of the screen and when you drag the window to other position, the lines move with it....When you open a window with many folders, it looks that the level of details increase on the screen and that triggers the apperance of more lines......Sometimes when no windows are open you can watch the screen perfectly and you dont notice any lines.....I hope these comments clear my monitor problem...Thanks once again....I hope you can help me solve this problem......Thanks...

Try to follow the following tips I posted:

1) White horizontal line (no vertical deflection)
Check / replace R548, R549
2) OSD appears as one big horizontal line with wrong colours and noise (looks like no hor. sync). Teletext is ok
Replace proc. IR01 (ST9293) which contains the OSD functions. (expensive IC)
3) White horizontal line (Frame collapse)
Dry joint on TA8427K, Frame IC
4) The set goes into protection and tries to restart. The tube shows no horizontal lines
After disconnecting the horizontal plug the +148V and CRT high voltage remained stable. The small pcb on the tube (scan coils with 5 or 6 pins) was dry jointed at copperside

Hope this will be helpful.

My viewsonic Va1912wb flashes horizontal lines when you turn it on and i know it is not in pal and it is not the refresh trate help me please

Hi There and Welcome to Fixya.

Horizontal or vertical lines flashing/running across the screen poses serious display issues with any LCD/CRT monitors. It only boils down to 2 possible causes :
  • Corrupted video driver
  • Hardware issue
To help you determine which of the above, here's what you need to do.
  • Ensure that the computer is turned OFF
  • Disconnect ALL USB devices except the keyboard
  • Turn the computer on and immediately hit "DEL" (in some systems, it's the "F2") key repeatedly until you reach a different screen. (not the usual Windows screen)
  • Welcome to the BIOS screen
  • From here, spend 30min to 1 hour observing if the lines are present in this mode
If you still see the horizontal lines, then there's a need for the monitor to be serviced by a certified/trained technician. The link below will direct you to their support page for repair/replacement options, depending on your warranty status :

ViewSonic Support

Otherwise, the problem can be resolved by re-installing the operating system.

I hope this helps, Thanks for using Fixya.

On the Onscreen Menu I accidentily set the horizontal position of my monitor too far to the right- how can I decrease it so I don't have it offset???

If you have a 3D monitor, good luck, otherwise, tap the buttons on your monitor that say menu, etc... there's horizontal and vertical adjustments in your monitor. If it's software, then go to your display settings and re-adjust.

INEED NO. OF OUTPUT HORIZONTAL LINE TRANSISTOR

If you mean 'flyback' or 'horizontal output transformer' and have the part number available, try one of the sources here:
Flyback links
If you do not have the number you may have to search Viewsonic's website to loacte it.
Warning; the number of suppliers for CRT monitor parts is shrinking rapidly, my best supplier, ICM in California is long gone.
