Don't need a new blade - just hardware to reinstall blade.

SOURCE: Toro Lawn Mower Won't Start

this is a very common problem with these toro mowers. the needle valve in the bowl of the carb. is plugged up with dirt or varnish from the fuel. just under the primer bulb there is the carb bowl. it has a nut under it that holds it on remove the bowl and make sure fuel flows constantly while the bowl is off. push up on the float to stop the gas flow. this could be messy and dangerous. careful with the gas. its flammable. best solution is to remove the carb and soak it overnight in a parts cleaner like gunk. caution small parts inside. this happins every year on mine no matter what i do. seems like the orifice is so small it clogs easily. good luck

SOURCE: my craftsman rotory lawn mower 6.5 hp self

You have water in in the carborator, I'll bet. I had this same problem. Here's what I did.

I emptied the gas tank, put in a new spark plug, changed the oil and then unscrewed thd big nut on the bottom of the float container (attached to the carborator near the rubber gas injector button) and emptied and cleand the float container. Then i put it all back together, pulled the cord and the same thing happened, but this time i could keep it going by having my daughter constantly pushing the rubber gas injector button. After it had run for a minute with this constant pushing of the button, all the water was gone from everytwhere and it worked.

SOURCE: Honda lawn mower, self propelled mechanism not working

check the mechanism first before changing the gearbox its possible that the cable might jump out from the pulley or the cable is worn out or its possible that the gear on the tire is worn out to if not then that would be the time for you to change the gear box it would be hard to change it if you don't have the right tools to work on it if you know how everything work its not that hard to replace it just make sure were everything goes memorize the parts before disassembling cause that would be you guide to reassemble it...goodluck

SOURCE: my craftsman self propelled lawn mower no longer

if it is a belt driven drive check the belt for tension or break. or check the cable that engages the drive wheels.

Self propelled lawn mower makes whinning noise

disconnect the spark plug turn the mower on its side and inspect the drive belt on the pulley above the blade (on the crankshaft) it may have a shroud over it. Also there is a small gear case that maybe dry that the belt drives, that goes to the wheels, Also try lifting the drive wheels up off the ground and engage them and see if it still does it. if it stops once lifted it might be the bushings on the axle its self.

Why won't my 22 in. Kohler Low Wheel Variable Speed Self-Propelled Gas Lawn Mower self propel anymore?

i would guess that the belt is'nt tight enough when engaged. when you press the drive bar on the handle it should make the belt really tight if not it will need replaced. sometimes the gears in the wheels will mess up. there are videos on you tube that describe that and also the belt.

I NEED TO KNOW HOW THE BLADES GO ON A 21' SELF PROPELLED MOWER THAT IS A MULCHER

Most lawnmower blades simply attach with a bolt through the blade which bolts into the bottom of the crank shaft. The blades usually have a curve at the end of the blade, and this curve would point up when properly installed. If you post the model number of the machine, I can probably point you to a schematic which will show exactly how your blade mounts.

My 21: self propelled yardworks lawnmower leaves a strip of grass about one thiird from the left hand side of the mower when i mulch with it. When I bag it works good.

I'd check your blade and see if it needs sharpening. The mulching mowers need to cut then vacuum the grass up and then cut it again. They must be properly sharpened for this process to work properly.

I have a self-propelled walk behind number and the wheels quit spinning and the mower becomes very difficult to push. I am so frustrated. The mower has only been used five or six times and is brand new,...

I would probably take it back to where I bought it to begin with. But, I have an old Huskavara mower self propelled, at times if I set it on top of two 4 x 6 blocks (6 inches up) I have to take off the wheels and clean up the axles using thinner, degreaser, or gas, anything to break down oil or dirt. Then I oil the surfaces and reassemble, and the wheels work for a while.

Maybe the engine is running with the fuel from the primer bulb (about few seconds), the carburator is not working and need to be removed checked and cleaned, the most common fail is a jet clogged.
