Delfield freezer 6151-S keeps tripping GFCI

Delfield freezer model 6151-S was purchased used and has been working just fine until about a week ago. It is plugged into a dedicated GFCI outlet (nothing else plugged into the outlet) and it keeps tripping. If you unplug the freezer, reset the GFCI and try plugging something else in, the GFCI doesn't trip??? Help!?!?! Thank you in advance for your help in this matter.

I cannot try in a normal plug. If you look at the plug with the ground on the bottom, one of the prongs goes up/down and one prong goes left/right??? Help???

Try it in a normal plug. Freezers and refridgerators just pull too much to be used on a GFCI. The more a GFCI is used the eaiser it trips.

I guess what I would do is replace the GFCI with a regular plug that has the prong recepticals going the way your plug does. I think places like Lowes would carry it and they might even have an adapter to change your plug to standard.

Is it possible for a delfield freezer 6151 XL-S to trip a breaker every 2-3 hours if the TXV valve was faulty letting liquid get to compressor. This unit has had controller and relay start assembly...

I would look to see if it is tripping during the defrost cycle. One of the heater elements my be faulty. Never heard of a bad TXV causing a breaker tripping, but I guess it's possible. I would adjust the superheat so that it is about 6 to 8 degrees just prior to unit reaching temp and shutting off. I'd start there.

Delfield freezer 6151-S ,replaced door gaskets and they don`t seal

Take a hair dryer (or take off the gasket and throw them in the clothes dryer (yes I am for real I do this all day long)) then put them back on. or the hair dyer way is keep heating the gasket up and holding the door closed while you do it. they should start to seal as you are pressing them together.

Frigidaire freezer quits running

actionsnax please remove the freezer from the GFCI. What is happening on this old unit is that if the compressor shuts off then tries to come back on before the pressure in the system equalizes, the compressor can pull 12 amps. This is normally higher than the trip point of the GFCI. I had this happen years ago with a brand new Amana SXS refrig, in that case no one knew the unit was on a GFCI. The manufactures require that this units not be on a GFCI.
Hope this helps
