The Peg Perego Duette steering mechanism is not working - turns one way, and the cable is loose on the 2nd side. It doesn't seem that the cable is broken, just "undone". Can anyone help me with taking apart the handle apparatus/steering wheel?
Thanks,
6 screws and one bolt hold the steering wheel on. The screws are obvious but to get to the bolt you need to remove the cover, it is directly above the steering wheel adjustment button, just pop it off with a flat head screw driver. then you can easily open it up and see what broke, call customer service and get the replacement part. I assume your cable broke...mine did too. <!-- from fixya rte -->
We had to have the stroller sent for repair at the Peg warehouse for a similar problem. The steering column appears to be only able to be fixed by Peg themselves. A local repair shop which fixes strollers said that this issue is the only thing they cannot fix in-house. Was only about $50 to fix though.
This just happened to me too. If you go the peg perego website, under the "service center" link I found a repair shop. (Look for the "Service Stroller" icon under "type") Maybe you can find a repair shop close to you as well. They quoted me a price of $30 to fix the steering and the repair man said it would take 2 days to fix because it is labor intensive to get into the steeting column.
