Dishwasher just doesnt get dishes clean anymore. some food left on dishes. there is always water pooled in bottom of dishwasher, but I've cleaned it out well at the bottom

Check your vacuum breaker. Its some times mounted up on the back of your sink. If it gets stopped up it will cause your dish washer to not drain or clean properly. Good luck.

May 15, 2011 - After every load there is always some water left in the bottom of the drain basket/filter. It's not up into the dishwasher itself, but when I reach into the filterto clean it, there's always water in it. ... I did notice some string and guck wrapped around my food chopper blade .... 1 Scrape and rinse dishes before putting them in your appliance. Small food particles, grease, sauces and bones clog up the system, keeping the dishwasher from properly rinsing your dishes. You don't need to prewash the dishes but be sure to rinse off any solids. 2 Use a toothbrush to clean around the dishwasher door. Clean around the seal and hinges of the dishwasher. This area often is forgotten and holds a good deal of bacteria and food splash. A tooth- or bottlebrush is the best way to get into the crevices. 3 Clean chunks of food out of the screen and drain at the bottom of your dishwasher, recommended The Family Handyman. If the drain is plugged, the dirty water can't be washed away and ends up back on your dishes. Nut, bean and seafood shells, bits of plastic and small dishes can lodge against the drain, keeping it from doing its job. 4 Unclog the holes in the sprayer arms. If the holes are blocked by food or soap, water cannot freely spray inside the dishwasher to thoroughly clean the dishes. Leftover food on the dishes can make the dishwasher smell. 5 Keep space around your dishes. Overloading a dishwasher keeps it from running efficiently, allowing gunk to build up around the drain and the spray arms. 6 Run your dishwasher as hot as possible to break down food and grease. The recommended temperature is 120 F. 7 Run the dishwasher with vinegar added to neutralize odor. Empty the dishwasher, place a dishwasher-safe cup filled with white vinegar on the top rack, and run a cycle at the hottest setting. If you prefer, use unsweetened lemonade powder or baking soda in place of vinegar.
Check that all the filters are clean by removing them all. You will need to remove them all. If things are left on the items in the washer, it is generally the filters are badly blocked.
I had the same problem and fixed it by disassembling the lower spray arm and return filter, and cleaning all the junk out.
Most dishwashers have 'risers' that bring the water up to the top
sprayer or arm located under the top rack. If the recirculating pump
is plugged even a little there won't be enough volume or pressure to
get the water up there.
Test this by putting a dry muffin pan in the top rack, flat, and
running the dishwasher for a bit. If there is no water on the top (or
the bottom) either the top sprayer or the sprayer arm underneath the
top rack is not getting enough volume.
To fix this you need to clean out the screen and filter, where the
water returns to be recirculated. If you don't have any confidence to
remove the parts and clean it out yourself, get an appliance repair
person to do the job.
Make sure the odor is coming from the dishwasher.
Pull the bottom basket out and check for food that might be stuck in it. And check for food particles in the bottom of the dishwasher.
Then pour some baking soda into the dish liquid compatment. Run it through a complete cycle. This should deodorize and clean the dishwasher. i hope it helps. Please remember to leave rating.
Many times this caused by food particles clogging the screen or blocking the jets on the spray arms. Find the screen in the bottom of your machine and clean it out. If this doesnt help, remove the spray arms and clean them out.
If someone is putting dishes in the washer and obstructing the spray ams that would cause food to stay on dishes. After loading dishwasher and pushing in baskets make sure the spray arm doesnt hit any of the dishes causing them to not clean properly. If that doesnt work or is definately not your problem try removing the spray arm and seeing if it has food inside of it. Some times they get food build up in them and need to be flushed out.
I had an old machine with a similiar problem & I found that food had somehow entered into the arm that spins & sprays out water. The food blocked somewhat the holes which of course means less cleaning.
