If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air
check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.

You can turn the defrost timer till it clicks and everything shuts down. The heater should now come on. If it does, replace the timer. If it doesn't, check the heater and defrost thermostat. Turn the timer again till everything starts back up to end the defrost cycle.

Product thawed to cold in freezer...

If you had the door open for that long you will need to unplug and allow the ice buildup that happens when door is left open to thaw. After this you need only to plug the refrigerator back into the power source.Let me know what happens It is not going to work correctly until this is done. Sea Breeze

FREEZER THERMOSTAT

Sounds like the thermostat is not working. Mechanical and electronic thermostats can go bad and cause the freezer to continue running no matter what setting is set on thermostat. When this happens the only setting that will work is turning the temperature setting to off. What is the model number on your freezer? Sea Breeze

The temperature alarm goes off randomly. It remained silent for 6-10 hours after I turned it on originally then started to sound. I shut the alarm off for 10-12 hours then turned it on again. Once more it...

If you just purchased the freezer 3 weeks ago, I would be calling the store and or the manufacturer, and have them send out a service man to fix it or replace it.

How to set fridge temp

    1. The first thing you must know is that your refrigerator should be set at 37-38 degrees. Anything at 40 or higher and you are risking food born illness (food poisoning) or spoiling your food. Place your magnetic thermometer in the refrigerator.

    2. Set your dial on your refrigerator to the second lowest setting. (If your refrigerator is already equipped with a digital thermostat, simply set it for 37 or 38 degrees and do not move on to the next step)

    3. After 2 hours, check your thermometer reading. If your reading is 38 degrees, there is no need to go higher and you are ready to put your groceries in. Be sure not to open and close your refrigerator during these two hours or your temperature reading will be incorrect.

    4. If your reading is higher than 38 degrees, move your dial up to the next coldest setting and repeat the steps every two hours until you reach the correct temperature for your refrigerator.

    5. Once you have reached the correct refrigeration temperature for your refrigerator, place the magnetic thermometer in the refrigerator permanently and watch for changes.

Typically, your refrigerator temperature will need to be adjusted with the seasons, a higher setting in the summer and a lower setting in the winter.

Can i turn off auto defrost in my whirlpool side-by-side freezer, food is getting freezer burnt after just 2 weeks

No you cannot turn off the auto-defrost as the unit would stop working at all after a short time, and there's no provision to do so anyway. And I don't understand why you would thing the feature would have anything to do with fFreezer Burn. Freezer Burn imay be somewhat affected by the temperature, but mostly how well the food is sealed, keeping air out of the package. If freezing packaged meats from your supermarket for instance, the air in the package will burn them in, yes as little as two weeks. If that is the problem, you must repackage those items, eliminating as much air contact with the food in the package as possible to avoid the problem. I myself use both plastic wrap and aluminum foil to repackage anything I want to keep a while.

Thaw's. Turn-off for period of time it would freeze as normal

Make sure nothing is inhibiting air flow. I don't think it is advisable to store food in an ice machine however that is not likely the problem unless the food itself is inhibiting air flow. Most ice machine manufacturers recommend against storing any food in an ice machine. If there is a freezer component in you model the check to see if the evaporator coils are frosting up and the frost is blocking airflow causing the ice storage chamber to get warm. High humidity can cause frosting. Leaving a door to the ice maker open too long can cause frosting. A low refrigerant charge can do this although it seems logically like it should not. With a very slightly low charge one end of the evaporator gets super cold and the other end is not cold enough. Frosts starts collecting on the super cold end and accumulates across the evaporator coil to the other end eventually blocking all air flow. With too much humidity from open doors frost accumulates over the entire evaporator evenly but still blocks. You shut the unit down. It thaws out and works OK on restart until frost again builds up. If its not a frosting problem but it just stops making ice then the ice may not be releasing. Check the water supply and change any filters to insure good water flow. A good water supply is required for proper release and harvest of the ice in many ice machines. If the ice doesn't release it takes a shut down and thaw to clear the suspended ice out. Check for these things and write back if you need further assistance and can provide me with more details.
