I am using Hodgdon 4895 smokeless powder and a 200 grain soft nosed bullet to reload for a 35 cal marlin rifle. What powder charge should I start with to safely reload these bullets.

Use any data listed for Marlin 1895 and you should be safe as long as you follow safe reloading practices (I can not give you more information as liability is so transient these days) Lyman reloading manual for cast bullets is a good source, Most all reloading manuals have 3 classifications for the wonderful old cartridge, 1871 Trap door, Marlin 1895, Ruger #1 and bolt actions. I have used all the types listed, take my word for it approach max with trepidation and use only as a last ditch effort, 1895 max loads are brutal recoil, Ruger #1 max loads are retina ripping mind numbing and a concussion waiting for you to snap the cap on.

A load for a 50 caliber rifle calls for 90 grains of FFG black powder or 90 grains of Pyrodex RS (maximum, start with a lighter load, and work your way to a good, accurate loading).

I'm not understanding the rest of your question.

It looks like your average velocities with this grain of bullet are anywhere from 2400 to 2900 feet per second. As far as the powder goes in between 39.0 to 43.0 grains is where i would start testing my hand loads.

If the powder burn rate is incorrect, you can pull case heads off in a Rem auto.... bolt tries to open too soon..using IMR 4350. the pressure curve is not right, too much gas pressure when the bullet passed the ports. Same loads shoot perfectly in a bolt gun, very accurate, actually.

If you are going to reload, I'd stay with powders in the burn range of 4064 or 4895, single-base stick powders, faster than 4350. Bullets should be the lighter range.. perhaps 150 or 180 grains. With the faster powders, the pressure curve should be correct.
Honestly..... give some thought to a plain old yellow/green box of Rem 200gr Cor-Lokts... generally available off the shelf and should do the job fine. Sometimes we get carried away with our reloading efforts when there is an inexpensive box of factory ammo that will do the job, especially if it's for a non-reloader who needs advise. lso, the semi-auto and the pump type centerfires require the use of SMALL BASE reloading dies to assure proper chambering. Sometimes, regular FL dies will not size the case down far enough for reliable feeding.

Even in my reloading book if you load over max with an H4350 on a 85 gr. bullet you only get 3235. If you drop to a 70 gr. bullet you can get 3457.

its not a bullet problem you can shoot that out of your hawken muzzeloader your problim is getting the pan powder to ignight your powder in the barrel you need to make shure powder never got damp now on your hawken you have a removable torch hole were the pan powder lays take that out and just drill the hole out bigger not much just a little bigger in the part you took out this will make your hawken fire without any problem i have done this to many hawken rifles and its like night and day how it fires hope this helped ya out and good luck
