Laptop screen frozen;arrow wont move;cant type in user name.ACER Aspire

The appeal to any laptop is the ease of portability of the machine, and an Acer laptop is no different. With an integrated mouse pad, these computers can be quite the boon to those looking to have their technology on the go, but a number of issues can afflict Acer laptops, including unresponsive mouse pads. Fortunately, a few clicks of the keyboard and some driver downloads can alleviate most Acer mouse pad problems.

Take a close look at the Acer laptop mouse buttons. Make sure the exterior of the buttons are clean and that there is no grime around the edges and crevasses of the Acer buttons. Dirt on top of the mouse pad can result in slower performance or an unresponsive experience, while grime around the sides of the mouse buttons can cause problems with the pressing and depressing of the mouse. Is there any way your mouse pad has been turned off? Check into this possibility. On an Acer laptop, hitting the "Function" (Fn) key and "F7" on the key board will result in the mouse pad being switched off. Hence, you may have hit this function and your mouse pad may not actually be broken or require any repair. Hitting the "Fn" button and the "F8" key on the Acer keyboard will result in the mouse pad being turned back on again. Click on the "Printers and Other Hardware" option on your PC. This is an alternative method to the above. At this point, examine the menu that comes up and click on the button at the top that reads "Device Settings." You should then see an option to click on your Acer mousepad. Highlight this option and click "OK." Launch your Web browser and go to the official Acer website. http://www.acerpanam.com/ The above steps may not have worked, so downloading new drivers for your mouse may be necessary. Select your country of origin, then click on "Support." You will be asked to click on your country again. After you do so, click on the link that says "Drivers and Downloads" on the left sidebar. Select your product line ("Notebooks") as well as your specific Acer computer model, and then hit "Search." Click on the link that says "Touchpad drivers." Your Acer computer may only require new drivers for your mousepad. Download the .exe file and run it to install the contents to your Acer computer. Restart your Acer computer after fully completing the download and installation process. Once the restart process has completed, the driver installation will be complete and your mouse should work again.

My mouse and think pad do not work

There are 2 possible answers to this common issue, the first is that the aspire has a mouse lock. check your keyboard on the function buttons for a picture of a mouse with a line though it, hit function and at the same time press the mouse with the line through it and if its locked off this will turn if back on. The second answer is driver issues, if the first suggestion dont work I would go to the Acer website click on downloads and drivers and enter your model number. Then download and install your think-pad and mouse pad drivers and install.

I have an acer aspire using xp. cursor is frozen in the center of screen. Pad doesnt work. Reset but didn't change anything. Did fn-f7 didn't change anything. I can only get around using my tab key...

Plug in a USB mouse to give you some mouse functionality. Then go HERE (http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers) and search for your specific laptop model and try to see if they have a touchpad driver for your model.

Also you can go to the device manager in Windows (Right Click my computer and choose Manage)
find the touchpad driver in the list, right click and uninstall. Then reboot your computer and have Windows reinstall using plug and play (it will do this automatically)

Good Luck.

I am having a problem with my touchpad on my acer. All of a sudden the left click button wont work and i can't click by tapping on the surface of the touchpad. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

First, you can plug in an external USB mouse so that you have some mouse functionality.
You can then see if Acer has an updated driver for the touchpad, or you can try uninstalling and reinstalling the mouse driver. Also, check the settings under "Mouse" in the control panel.
If these don't work, there may be something physically wrong with the touch pad. Overall, it may not be worth replacing depending on the age of the laptop and if you want to live with always plugging in an external mouse.
If your laptop is on the newer side, it's always a good thing to check and see if it is under warranty, to see if you can get a replacement or repair as needed.

Acer Aspire 1 ZG5 3? years old. Battery is not charging and probably needs to be replaced. However, when plugged into the wall, the XP loads up and the desktop appears. The remote mouse will not function...

Te battery probably does need to be replaced only if dont like having it plugged in-- and NO that has nothing to do with the mouse--be sure you have the latest DRIVER for the mouse and be sure the mouse is configured to your likeing in CONTROL PANEL---also the "PAD" dosen't need to be turned off, you can still use a mouse at the same time

Is a Logitech mouse compatible with Acer labtop

Should be compatible with any PC, you may need to download the latest Logitech drivers to get the full functionality of the device. Microsoft has basic support built-in for Logitech input devices. If this question is in regards considering buying a new logitech mouse, the software drivers will come with the device.

I cant get my internal mouse to work anymore. Is there setting that would turn on or off the mouse? My mom always used a plug adn play mouse and now the internal mouse dont work? can you help me

On my acer, holding the function key and pressing F7 will disable the internal mouse. If you repeat the process it will reenable the mouse. This is likely your problem. It may not be the F7 key but the Function keys should have little pictures, and one should indicate it represents the touchpad. If this doesn't work it could be a driver issue. Personally I prefer an external mouse.

My touchpad mouse won't work. it does not respond

If you are using XP, check your mouse settings under Control Panel. Make sure that your Touch Pad is enabled. If it is but it still won't work, have a mouse plugged into a USB port that will work correctly. Then download the latest driver from the Acer site for your touchpad. Uninstall the driver that is currently being used by your system. Then install the updated driver that you downloaded. This should allow you to use your Touch Pad. If not, you may have to take your laptop in for servicing.
