How to Get Freeview?

First check you have the right ariel on roof or you have a good indoor digital type.
Check you can get a good signal in your area, ask a neighbour perhaps.
Make sure your TV has Freeview receiver built in or capable of accepting HD Top box Freeview.
Tune your device...auto tune or whatever and save the channels to TV memory.
(If you have a Satelite dish you can get Freeview that way but you will need a FreeSat box)...Aim for the Astra 28 degree Sat, you will get stacks of channels and all the Plus+1s and even more stuff from the rest of the world which is good if you're learning Hindi, French, Russian, Chinese etc etc...English even
It's all very easy to get going...

Im trying to set up my acer Z5700 to watch tv with built in freeview, but i get this message everytime. windows media is unable to determine a tv signal configuration, and says make sure a live tv signal...

Hi.

The all-in-one desktop computer supports digital and analog signals. You will need a standard aerial for this (one that is mounted on your roof or the side of your building).
If you are trying a cable which receives cable TV then that will not work.

Setting up the TV

You will definitely need some type of areial. A pair of rabbit ears for local reception and a powered set for longer range. But yes you will need an antenna near your TV or a good roof top one. Good Luck and thanks for asking. PS!!!!! Be sure to tell your TV you are looking for an over the air signal!

Hitachi 19WDVB

Had the same problem. Digging through the manual I came across a paragraph (at the top of page 24 - DTV Features) saying "if you have selected DTV then it will only display the DTV menu. (I didn't actually select DTV - we can't even get DTV in our area, but the ASP programduring startup appears to have set it!
You have to press the Volume +/- buttons on the remote, then the Input button and it will bring up the input menu. There you can select a different input. Once I did this, I found it had both my TV channels tuned and my satellite channel!
Now my problem is I can't control on/off or volume with the Sky controller - which is why I'm trawling the forums!!

Setting up my freeview box- NO CHANNELS FOUND

Hi.

The cable & wireless system is not capable of picking up the digital freeview frequencies.
Idealy you need to put a new aerial on the roof,
If this is not possible try an indoor aerial that you to plug in to the mains electrical supply.
