Sidekick Hi, i just bought a sidekick used, how do i change the sim card to get started ?

Your Sidekick operates on a GSM cellular network. Your Boost SIM card (and Boost Mobile phones) operate on an iDEN cellular system. You cannot use a Boost SIM card in a Sidekick. (FYI - SIM cards cannot be unlocked. Only cellphones phones can be unlocked.)

if you are using the same carrier you can, just change the sim card to the sidekick and you should be fine.

I just got a sidekick off the internet and I put my SIM card in the phone and it says no SIM card. What do I do? Anyway to fix whatever is wrong?

not sure if this works with the 2008 but its something you can try, i put a sim card in my LX and was asking for a special code to unlock the phone, well right now tmobile isn't unlocking the sidekick, but you can trick the phone into using the sim card. First go to your settings, go to "SIM Center" and click on disable sim lock, enter in whatever your sim password is (if you dont know your sim password get your PUK (pin unblocking key) number which customer service will give you if you call 611, you can change that SIM pin by typing **05*PUKnumber*newpin*newpin#) now if you wanted to change it to "0123" if your puk was 9483992 its 7-9 digits you would type **05*9483992*0123*0123# now your sim pin is 0123. (trying not to make this super complicated) it will say sim pin not accepted click ok, now click change sim pin you can type the same sim pin 3 times if you want, 0123 0123 0123 now at the top of the screen bars will show up with a white phone beside it, go to Settings-Network Options-Scan and Select Manually, the SIM network should come up, click ok when it finds it and it will connect, now you can call and text on whatever sim you have in the phone

Hello.. I live in denmark and I just got the sidekick 2008.
I bought an Isim (ver. 2) on ebay. I payed $9.
Then I put It under my non tmobile sim card and powered it up and I could se my phonebook and other stuff from my sim. But it keept saying: emergency calls only.
Then you have to put it into a nother mobile phone to get signal. Then put it back in the SK with the Isim and then it works. Just remember to update the sim and phone with the settings from your current phone company by sms. Then it wont happen again.

It worked for me. so I hope it would help others...

1.your sim needs a password 
2.turn off ur sidekick 3 
3.place ur cingular card in 
4.turn on sidekick 3
5.itz gunna ask you for a special code ignore it
6. go to settings den sim center 
7. if ur sim lock is disabled jus enable it 
8.den change ur sin pin to wateva you want
9.once u change it you will signals bars go up
10.go 2 settings network options 
11. press scan scan select manually 
12. select ur network 
13. and datz it your sim iz workin on sidekick 3

if u turn it off u will have 2 do da same process again

I had the same problem with the sidekick i bought off of ebay , when you cal customer care just tell them you got it off ebay and you need the old users information deleted, they will give you step by step instructions on how to do so. Remember to not call on your sidekick becasue you will have to restart the phone.
