115,000 btu reddy heater, 5 hrs used in sprayfoam-grinding environment. stopped working. when plugged in, only hums for a few seconds, then stops. how can i fix that?

First, remove the top cover. Inspect for a varmint nest. If clear, manually spin the fan. If it does not you either have a broken rotor that is binding or you have a bad bearing.

If it spins freely, apply power- see if the motor runs with the top cover removed.
If YES, replace the top cover. Its possible that the top is binding the fan.
If NO, the start capacitor is defective. The cap on R115 is internal and is not servicable.

When I turn my reddy heater on model R115d(t) the fan cycle for approximatley 5 seconds then stops. The glow plug is getting red but no fuel. What could cause this?

Could be a dirty air filter. Fuel nozzle could be clogged. Fuel filter clogged, if it has one. Some don't. Could be a problem with the low pressure compressor that is attached to back of the fan motor.

Is there supposed to be flame coming around the cone of a 115,000 btu reddy forced air kerosne heater?

no. the flame should be behind the cone. If it passes the cone, this means that there is too much air. simply turn the air pressure screw until the flame no longer comes beyond the cone.

When I plug the unit in, the fan turns very slow, and I smell fumes, but the unit does'nt turn on

I am not able to give you a solution, but will put forth some possibilities for you to check.
  1. Spin the fan manually. No power, please. If the fan spins freely, and no grinding is heard or felt, then the starter capacitor or starter relay (whichever equipped) is defective. Internal capacitors are not serviceable. Replace the motor.
  2. If the fan does NOT spin freely and/or binds, either the rotor (air pump) is broken or a motor bearing is bad. The rotor is replaceable, the motor bearing is not serviceable.
If you decide to repair the heater as described then the air pump pressure must be reset, in either case, in order for the heater to burn properly. It is a simple process. Follow this link for instructions

Reddy Heater not firing

Take air preassure from an air hose to turn the fan blades to loosen everything up. Time for afull service, like change the vanes in the pump, 3- filters fuel--2 air.

Portable kerozene heater

If this is a forced air kerosene heater it does not use a wick. If it is a portable wick heater you can get them for all brands at Portable Heater Parts on the web.

Reddy heater 40000 btu heater hums when you plug it in then stop

Check the air pump. If you are lucky the rotor is busted. If not, see if the fan spins freely with no binding. If so, the starter relay is bad, if equipped. Some heaters have external relays, others have internal relays and are not serviceable. Could also be a bad bearing. Could also be - someone sat on the heater or dropped something on it, or it fell out of the truck and the sheet metal is squashed and is against the fan blade.
