I cannot set the alarm on my MT-G / G-shock casio watch
I was given this watch in a poker game, it had no manuel. It has 3 dials inside of 1 big face. It has 4 buttons, going clockwise: start-stop, reset, mode, adjust. I can get the hands to move, but not set on the right time.

Many of the Seiko Chronographs have the same setting options (mine is the lightweight "Titanium Sports").
First off, the alarm dial must show the same time as the actual
main dial. If not you must adjust this first.
Pull the knob at number 4 position on the watch face out, until you feel two distinct notches/clicks (around 0.5mm travel) and the alarm will make a shrill buzzing for about 1 second.
Now turn the #4 knob to move the small alarm dial at the #6, to be the same as the actual time displayed on the main face,
and press the #4 knob fully back in. This sets the alarm and the main time to the same ....er....time. You do not need to do this again, unless you adjust for daylight saving times during summer/winter.
Now you can set the alarm chime point.
Pull the #4 knob out again, but just one click. You should hear one ping from the alarm. Now press the button at #8 position. It will move the small alarm hands by 1 minute intervals, and if you keep it held in, the dial spins around quickly. This allows you to adjust the time the alarm will chime.
When you've got the alarm time and it's chime point set, leave the #4 knob at one click out.
If you wish to switch the alarm off simply press the #4 knob back in, and the alarm dial will spin around to the same time as the main dial.To re-enable the alarm pull the #4 out one click again. It's quite simple once you get the hang of it.
The hands are set independent from the digital display

I had the same nagging problem on my GSHOCK 2816. The Casio manual was no help at all. What I did to turn my alarm(s) (mine has 5 independant alarms) off is switch to alarm mode (as you are looking at the face of the watch, it's the bottom left button. I push it twice to get to alarm mode. My display shows the current alarm time, and then the number 1. If you hit the top right button on the watch, it turns this alarm off. If you hit the bottom right button, it cycles to the next alarm in the list. To set an alarm, just cycle to the one you want, and then hold the top-left button until you see it flashing, then use the right side buttons to adjust the time. Hope that helps. This was a big pain in the **** until I figured it out.
