Remove a GE Spacemaker
The GE Spacemaker series of microwave ovens are designed to be installed above an oven range, freeing up counter space in your kitchen. Some of these Spacemaker models are connected to an outside venting system to carry kitchen vapor and odors outside. Other Spacemaker models utilize a ductless system to do this. Removing a GE Spacemaker microwave oven isn't a difficult task, but, because of the size of some of the oven models, it is a two-man operation. Have a question? 1
Open the cabinet above where the Spacemaker microwave oven is installed. If you see a vent in the cabinet leading to the Spacemaker oven below, your Spacemaker is vented. This vent needs to be disconnected before continuing with removal. Disconnect the vent either by loosening the duct clamps or by cutting the duct tape away with a sharp knife. Pull the vent out of the top of the oven.
2
Have an assistant support the oven from below. Loosen the mounting screws connected to the Spacemaker through the cabinet bottom. Loosen the screws by turning counterclockwise with the Phillips screwdriver.
3
Unplug the Spacemaker from the socket in the cabinet.
4
Continue loosening the screws while your assistant holds the oven in place. Once the screws are removed, have your assistant slowly lower the Spacemaker down by lowering the front face at a 45-degree angle.
5
Feed the power cable for the Spacemaker through the hole in the bottom in the supporting cabinet.
6
Help your assistant slowly pull the Spacemaker forward and out of the mounting brackets on the rear wall. Once the Spacemaker is cleared of the mounting cabinet and rear wall, set it down.
7
Remove the mounting bracket from the rear wall by loosening the screws.
It is much easier for two people to remove the microhood. If attempting alone, please move the range out so you can get under the micro to support the weight. If the range stays in place, protect the top from damage. 1. make a landing site to the side, to protect the floor when putting the micro down after removal. 2. Disconnect the power cord in the cabinet above. 3. loosen the two screws in the bottom front corners of the cabinet above. When removed the front of the micro will drop, be ready for the weight. Busy times, tools in hands microwave coming down in front. 4. tilt the front down. pull the cord out of the upper cabinet. 5. with micro still tilted down in front, lift the back of the unit upward to free it from the wall plate. 6. remove the fasteners in the wall plate and remove. Congrats, begin celebration.
there are a few ways these can be hung/removed , one is bolting it to the cabinets above it , check for bolts inside the cabinet.
the other way is the bracket in the back of the unit may have a hook or pin around it for a release.
they hide these behind the grill covers on the top or the bottom as well.
let me know how it works out.

look in the cabinet above the microwave, there should be 2 bolts which go through the bottom of the cabinet and screw into the microwave. remove these 2 bolts holding the unit steady then tilt the unit down and away from the wall.
1. Unplug the microwave. The plug is probably in a receptacle that is in the cabinet above the microwave, or in the wall above the shelf that is above the microwave.
2. Remove the two (or three) screws that go straight down through the bottom of the cabinet, or the shelf, into the top of the microwave. Have help in holding the microwave when you do this, as the front of the microwave will be able to fall down when the screws are removed.
3. Allow the front of the microwave to rotate down a little, then lift the back of the unit up about 1/2" to 1". At this point, the microwave will be disconnected from the mounting plate on the wall, so you can move it forward and carry it away.
