I have Dell Studio 1555 Laptop with Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz, 3 GB DDR2, 320 GB HDD. I forgot BIOS/CMOS password. Now I am unable to change the CMOS settings. Please help me to remove BIOS password. I removed CMOS battery from laptop but it didn't work. Please help me. Ravi Paneri
1) You can reset BIOS to default settings by pressing <Alt><F>
2) I am not sure about the laptops, but in the Dell Desktops usually there is a reset jumper on the motherboard which is seated on 2pins out of 3, you just need to remove that jumper turn on the pc once and the turn on the pc again by reseating the jumper to its original place. You can try this with your laptop, I guess the jumper should be somewhere close to the CMOS battery.
3) Remove the battery and keep it away for atleast 30 mins. and replace it again.
NOTE: make sure while following step (3) and (4) the system should be completely turned off. Unplug the AC adapter, remove the battery and hold the power button for atleast 8 - 10 seconds.
let me know the output
How long did you take the battery off the, it cmos can hold info for 24hrs after battery has been taken off. Also you have to remove the laptops battery as well and wiat over 24 hrs then it will clear. If you cant wait then use Hirens Boot disk, this is used by most pc technicians and does have cmos password remover. You'll down load it as a ISO then burn the image onto a CD then boot using the disk. You will get a ment askin if you want to boot from HD or boot disk.........pick second option.
The link for hirens is http://www.hiren.info/pages/bootcd
goodluck and let me know how you went
You must remove CMOS battery and all power for 24 hrs to clear bubble memory
Hi, I see your problem that you want to reset BIOS password at laptop Dell studio 1555. I have the same one, and I want to setup password to protect entering into BIOS and from starting notebook. I set Supervisor and User pass, enable Fixed disk boot sector: Write protected, and Diskette access: Supervisor... Now I´m trying to install next Operation System and it´s don´t want to install because [Errno 5] Input/output error
This particular error is often due to a faulty CD/DVD disk or drive, or a faulty hard disk.
So I want to ask you, If you try to pull out from notebook CELLCOIN battery to reset CMOS and if it´s right solution for my problem, then can I disable write protection?. If you, what´s the time when batery was outside book?
Thanks.
