Machine Is Stuck on "VENTILATE" Command

My machine is asking me to VENTILATE which I have attempted to do by turning on the knob for the milk steamer... this used to ventilate the machine with hot water and steam and return it to a normal setting, but does not seem to work this time - it keeps asking me to VENTILATE again and again... how do I reset it?

  • Anonymous Jan 01, 2008

This means the water cannot flow through the machine. Normal fix is to prime the machine (turn water dispenser on, fill a cup) or descale the machine. Go throught he menue, select descale, enter, then turn the steam knob fully anti-clockwise. You shoudl put the descaling solution in the water tank first.

If you have the auto-descale in the menue then run it. Run the solution throught he machine twice. Then rince well.

    Have fun...

I had this "Ventilate" problem after descaling my Saeco Incanto de luxe. I tried all posted suggestions within my capability/user level to no avail. Just when I thought I was going to need to contact customer service for repair, I went through the menu settings and selected "yes" for Factory Settings and the ventilate message went away and the machine was immediately "Ready for Use". Weird, but it worked for me.

Thanks for the tip. Worked for me also after no success running 2 litres of hot water. I had Decalcify on for a couple of weeks which I was in no hurry to do as we don't have hard water. Running decal now with a 2 teaspoons of citric acid.

Sounds like you all have the same problem. Your flow meter has been obstructed with a small chip of coffee bean that got into your water tank receptacle when your tank was off. You need to remove the top or back depending on your machine and remove the flow meter. It twist apart. The intake is a small opening and that is creates the jet of water that spins the flow meter. If it gets obstructed the meter doesn't spin and you will get the ventilate message.

sounds like there maybe a vapor lock problem... where there is a problem with the hosing... or vaccuum-like mechanics inside of the machine... Perhaps even there is "gunk" or milk stuck in the steam wand. you have a few options... get a milk pitcher that reaches almost to the top of the steam wand and fill it with ice and water. Allow it to soak for a period of time until, say, there is a decent amount of condensation that has gathered on the outside of the cup. then clean the inside with something that can reach and is non-abbrasive... *a straw may work* clean it out manually... then soak again. try opening the steam wand again and let it steam in the water... if it's not working... preform a cleaning cycle... and include a 'smigin' 1tsp. or 1 tbsp. of vinegar in the water resevior. and let it run all the water through the steam wand... if possible. if it is still posing a problem definantly contact warranty services... or seek a saeco tech in your neck of the woods!
hope this helped!

Cannot ventilate machine

Sounds like the milk frother is blocked.
Remove the frother completely, try to ventilate without it.
You should be able to see through the center of the frother.
If not try to clean it out with a paperclip or pipe cleaner.

Stuck on ventilate

Try this, open steam wand, if it calls for ventilate pusi in steam knob, if that works then the tap rod on the steam valve needs to be replaced. To me it sounds like the machine is building up pressure and the discharge is not releasing through the water circuit.
