I have a Dell Inspiron 6000. I was recently installing a new Belkin router. The installation failed and I had to get phone support to complete the installation. I was asked to remove the install disk. The cdrw/dvd has not worked since. I get a message ''Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)''. The drive dows not show up under my compuer. When I install a disk, it spins up but then stops.

Remove the drive by turning the computer upside down and take the screw out between the battery and the memory cover (next to a padlock symbol). Insert the screw driver into the little notch in the plate next to where the screw was and slide it towards the drive. The drive should now pop out. Boot the computer. Shut the computer down and reinsert the drive and reboot.

Netgear wgt624 wireless router installs through wizard up to step 3 and then stops. the computer is a dell inspiron 6000 laptop.

I never use the software supplied with the router, you don't need it. Google "let windows manage wireless" and you'll find many walkthroughs.

Best wireless router options for the inspiron 6000

Not sure what you're asking. If your laptop has a wireless card installed in it, then any wireless router should work. If you're asking what wireless router to buy, do a Google search on top 10 wireless routers.

CANNOT SWITCH THE WIRELESS ON...ITS A INSPIRON 6000

Have you tried "Fn+F2" (both keys together) by any chance? If that still fails, you might need to check if you have the proper wireless card driver installed (can download the latest Dell wireless drivers from their website)

Dell Inspiron 6000 with network card Intel/Pro Wireless 2200 BG

So u can connect to the router, but you arent allowet to access the internet?
The router gave your dell a new ip-number, but it dident gave you access to the net. You ned to do the settings in your router manual, let the router give your dell full access.

Good luck

Dell Inspiron 6000 PC Notebook

This sounds like the hard drive is failing. At this point you will need to run a system repair with your recovery or operating system disc. If the repair doesn't take, then reformat the hard drive and install a new operating system. If you have any issues during or after the format or install, then the hard drive has failed and will need to be replaced.

How to Install a new HD on Dell Inspiron 6000?

You can always parition the drive, and install both Ubuntu and XP (dual boot).

Yes, you will be able to access the files (providing the drive isn't totally crashed), although Ubuntu may not "know" what the files are.
